Lovely course though the greens had recently been worked on and had a lot of sand on.

New layout was good since it's been taken over by the Hotel. Note not to go to the old place where the range is, this course is now separate to the range and part of the hotel. First tee is the old 17th.

Played course for the first time and the first impression is that there is too much walking around from green to next tee. Between some was like a route march ! Very off putting people walking past your green when you trying to putt. Also some tees are no more than 3 yards from a green so you get approach shots peppering you on the tee ! Also it is nice to see people working on the course ,but is it necessary to be gang mowing the fairway at 11 am when the course is busy ? Surely this should be done before the paying public turn up ? It not really on having to wait to play your shot while the mower drives up and down the fairway. The course was in very good condition but the greens were not. The biggest plus of the day was the bacon roll,coffee and carrot cake in the clubhouse. The best ever !!

played today on a groupon. very good value at £20 for round of golf for 2 with bacon roll

Reasonable value for money at £20 a midweek round.
The condition of the course was poor but the condition of the fairways can be forgiven due to the hot dry summer but there would be no real excuse for the greens, tees and bunkers.
The greens were littered with pitch marks but that’s just down to poor players not respecting the course. Several greens had 2 to 3cm holes caused by I know not what but could have easily repaired.
Some tees boxes were not level and in really poor condition.
The bunkers were not maintained at all and had more weeds than sand.
The course layout was very unimaginative with several par 4s just going up and down parallel to each other making one hole indistinguishable from another.
The facilities were poor also, no pro shop just a few items of basics on sale in a room in the hotel bar.
We finished our round at 4.30pm, looking forward to a pint and something to eat in the bar but it was shut !!!

Greens are in really good condition and best aspect about this course. The bunkers do not have much sand in them and what sand there is looks like it comes from a building site rather than sand for a golf course. The Cromwell is the cheaper course so have to make some allowances. Teeing off at 10.30 no one in the hut again to pay which means a traipse over to main bar.

Good points Are well cared for fairways and general course conditions. Friendly staff and warm welcome.
Bad points- Some of the putting greens let this particular course down and the holes seem a little too similar and without any real signature whole.

OK course. probably should be a £19-22 but OK. Real faff with the paying at the hut due to the signal / paying machine.
