one to avoid
I live in the Algarve and played this course last month for the first time. I will not be going back. There is no rough to speak of so your ball bounces along merrily into the undergrowth on most shots. Even drives on or around landing zone markers could not be found, or in a bunker. Greens were fine. Clubhouse good. Friendly staff. But until they sort it out, go somewhere else!Reviewer Rating

The course is hilly and tight with virtually zero 1st cut of longer grass in between the heavily undulating fairways and truly brutal rough. Far too many good shots that hit the middle of fairways ended up as unreachable lost balls in vicious bramble bushes.
There was also a boar problem on a number of holes with large areas of GUR where they had been digging.
The clubhouse was extremely impressive and the food was tasty. Slightly surprised at being charged extra for butter to go with our toast at breakfast tho.
I'm afraid that this is one of the few courses on the Algarve that I have no intention of playing again.

Straight hitters
If your hitting over 200 yds you need to be straight. Long and slightly wayward may be lost especially as many shots will be blind. I am no John Daly but regularly had to club down from the fees as it was hard to find the ball when you didn't see it land. A buggy is a godsend as it is hilly hence the numerous blind shots. On a different day I could easily have shot 20 more!Reviewer Rating

For players playing it for the first time it's ridiculous
Blind shots and straight shots often resulting in lost balls spoiled our round. Also too much bushes close to greens catching out slightly imperfect approach shots. Ridiculous as most who play are amateurs.
Like lot of courses in the Algarve they smile at you take an extortionate green fee and give you no advice on what to watch out for
I would not recommend this course to my friend as its way too penal for holiday golf
America knows how to welcome golf tourists and not Rio them off

Nice course worth playing but....
First time playing Espiche. Good looking clubhouse, friendly welcome at pro shop. Good practice facilities. Course looked good, but was so hard to keep balls on the fairways, a lot of slopes with punishing rough just off them. A few balls went missing in our 4 ball. Greens were okay, not the best but passable. Would I return, not sure, certainly worth playing the once but be prepared for a frustrating round if slightly wayward off the tee.Reviewer Rating

Few blind tee shots, which, if to play it again, would not use Driver as much

Good course in a beautiful location
A short drive outside of Espiche, a modern and well served clubhouse overlooking the course in all directions.Reviewer Rating
