Superb venue and facility
Held Open Qualifying and has some of the best greens I have seen all year. Some brilliant holes with some of the best golf architects combining to create a superb venue. Customer service was brilliant and I will definitely return. Don't forget the smaller but equally testing course next door. Both are gems!Reviewer Rating

Awesome Course
Never played here before and a lot of blind greens and fareways so first play would recommend buying course map. Course condition great and greens bit hard but otherwise excellent condition, pure and smooth and very curvy, but rewarding. Would highly recommend this course.(Round played: Apr 2018 - Score: 94 Handicap: 21.9)

Best links club in Kent
Yes - it's not hosted the Open (like Royal St Georges, Princes or Cinque Ports), but this is a proper links club. Totally unsnobby, this is a club and course for golfers. The course is great fun - it was with the wind for most of the front 9 and against for most of the back 9. The opening hole is a short par 4 with deep bunkers down the right and rough up the left. The drivers came out and it was course 1 visitors nil. Stroke index 18 too. Beautiful green though - smooth as silk and slippery fast. Truer greens I've never seen. The second was over a brook and through a gap in massive dunes. Tough. Third was a blind shot over dunes and the fourth back into the wind to a raised green. Hole 5 is a par five over a diagonal of bunkers - long but fair. Then a great little raised green par 3 (interestingly the 4 par 3s all face in different directions so we got and failed a good wind test here. They're all beautiful but difficult). There was another par 5 to follow - an easier one thankfully. Then a cross wind par 4 and a par 3 towards the sea. We scored okay up to this point but the battle back to the clubhouse was about to begin. I think hole 10 is stroke index 1. A long par four dogleg right. Plays about 14 clubs longer than you think. And it doesn't get any easier. The highlights of the round came with a surprise from the 16th onwards: A really long par 4 (a par 5 surely!) was a real tester into the wind. Then on a raised tee box - the 17th - is one of the most perfect par 3s you will ever see. Right into the pipe of the wind, a green is laid out ahead of you with a ring of bunkers, and sloping from back to front. Hit that and you are worthy of joining this golfers club I reckon. Gorgeous. The round ends with a lovely par 5 - birdied into the wind. Celebrations all around. In the clubhouse, you'll find golfers. None of that tie and jacket nonsense of St Georges or Rye. It's down to earth stuff here in a lovely old clubhouse with normal golfing fare at good prices.
Looking back, these were the best greens we encountered on our tour. The course is testing but varied and fun. We'll be back.
