The greens are no better than most peoples back gardens.
I wish any person who is playing this farmers field, the very best of luck.

Real real shame as this course used to be excellent when I played consistently at the venue a few years ago. Instead of doing all that building round the club house how about spend some cash on the actual course.
The potential is there as there are some cracking holes but I will not be returning until its sorted; I understand all courses cant be royal birkdale in quality but at least make it look like you tried.

The Bad: The entire course is in terrible condition throughout. greens are dry and crusty, and still somehow pretty slow. Tees are uneven and don't have lot of grass in places. Fairways were also pretty furry. The walking distance between some holes was also incredibly long.
Clubhouse looks like it's under repair. The bar, cafe, gamesroom, proshop, office is all cramped into one room. Stood around before the round not knowing where to go or who to see. Some guy who looked like the Club manager was on his mobile the whole time, didn't acknowledge anybody or try to help. The only other staff member there was a young girl(very friendly), who seemed to be flipping burgers and taking green fees at the same time. There was only one toilet in the men's room and it wouldn't flush.
Not a great experience. They should be charging a third of the price for green fees until it's a fully functioning golf club.

A good layout that can only get better with age, tight narrow fairways and penal rough, make sure your straight or carrying loads of balls !
Even at the deal of £25 each there are better municipal courses local to St Helens that are in much better condition, make sure any fillings in your teeth are secure as the cart paths are very very bumpy, difficult to walk on, and shake your bag around so again make sure everything is secure, keep a look out for rutts on the paths and beter still in the rough, or you could end up with a broken leg !!

Go in Summer
In two minds with this review. I would say if you are not someone who plays all year and wants a knock in the summer give it a go. It’s good value for money. If you are looking for a winter venue or want to play all year round I would say cross this one off your list. It is a course that will be on temporary greens when all others are on a full course. I have played it in beautiful winter sunshine, with no mud and shirt sleeves and it has been on 17/18 winter greens. Better options in the area for all year golf which is a shame.Reviewer Rating
