Lads weekend.
Three of us went for a one night ,two rounds of golf. Lovely course, quite challenging for us higher handicap players, but still a great experience. Would love to play there again. ( And will do).Reviewer Rating

Good course - great scenery.
An interesting course with a deceptively easy start both physically and golf-wise . As the course progresses it becomes significantly more undulating with longer walks green -tee and the course toughens to ease off again at the end with a very long but flat and straight 18th hole with a superb view of the mansion. Torrential rain beforehand meant some muddy trails off piste.Reviewer Rating

A long slow walk
Started at 230pm, finished at 730. Very slow pace of play, lots of long walks between holes which ruined the round and the course for me. The course is interesting and very tough. Many blind shots which makes it tricky for a visitor. Wonderful views of house. Pro shop is not well stocked or staffed!(Round played: Sep 2020 - Score: 96 Handicap: 18.8)

Great course needs some tlc
Heythrop is a really interesting course lots of holes that are different. Course in need of some tlc. Tee boxes very bare but greens and fairways were in good condition. Golfers need to back this course during the tough Covid times I hope they all do(Round played: Aug 2020 - Score: 94 Handicap: 19.6)

Lovely course, hotel rooms small
Lovely course, was good in winter conditions, so in summer will probably be perfect. Golf clubhouse only partially open as it was winter. Layout of the course is interesting and certainly challenging in parts. Hotel is tired, but main reception rooms and restaurant have been refurbished to high standards. Breakfast was poor, but acceptable. Dinner was amazing, superb food and drinks.Reviewer Rating

Lovely course - but not suitable for everyone
Heythrop is a great layout with many excellent and picturesque holes. But...A group of of us (mixed ages mid-50s to 70s) played the course recently and there are several things they need to address for visiting parties.
The state of many of their pathways is appalling and indeed, in my opinion, extremely dangerous. On several holes these are little better than rock and pothole-strewn tracks and very tricky to walk along, particularly as they are often on steep inclines and climbs. Certainly not suitable for those less nimble on their feet than they once were.
The other two gripes are that walks from green to next tee are ludicrously long - particularly on the back nine - and on-course signage is less than clear, so playing the course unseen can mean it's difficult to know where to go next.
Some of our party had ordered buggies but these were banned - deemed to be dangerous to use in the conditions and quite rightly too - which meant that one of our party was unable to play either day and simply ended up going home.
I think tour operators, as indeed the course itself, should flag up the distances between holes and the tricky terrain to be navigated in some cases so those who may struggle will be forewarned and understand what they are booking. To give an idea - our home course off the yellow tees is approximately 13,000 steps. Heythrop off the yellows was 18,200.
There are no facilities in the golf shop for cooked food so bacon buttie enthusiasts may be disappointed if they travel any distance and fancy something to eat before they go out. The hotel, reasonably close, by does do breakfast wraps or full breakfasts but they are not cheap and in our party those who indulged found them very expensive and served cold.
In summary we thought the course was great, very picturesque and a tough challenge, but with those visiting in a group of mixed ages and abilities might be quite a struggle. I have ticked the "would not" recommend button only on the basis of the paths etc. not the golf course itself.
