What the club says: This well established (over 20 years) course is parkland with mature tress and numerous water hazards to trap the unwary. The fairways are generous, the green receptive and the semi rough is kept quite long to penalise a wayward shot. 84 bunkers are placed strategically to test your full repertoire of shots.

Good course

Very busy and day not helped by the very strong wind. New owners have done well by cutting the grass in-between the trees which makes far more enjoyable to play. Keep it up

Cainhoe Wood Golf Club

Have played here a few times since the change of name. The courses and complex itself have improved and I think the future looks positive. The layout of both courses has always been good and the course formerly known as the Baron is a tough track and could be excellent, but I feel the major step in improving the courses would be an upgrade in the irrigation system which clearly still seems to be an issue at the club! Get that sorted and you have a foundation for a great 36 holes of golf!

Not bad at all

The course is in ok condition. They’re obviously working very hard to bring it up to scratch. Enjoyed it.

Good price bit muddy

The first few holes were very muddy and lost balls when they had just gone off the fairway. Greens were good though

Love it

Really nice layed out course. Each hole is seperate and loved playing it.. A few small areas on a couple of greens that need sorting, but sure with recent improvements I'm sure this will be sorted soon.

Tiger boy

Wow...what can you say about this place, where do you start! The moment you drive in and fall down the pot holes on the entrance drive you just know your in for a bad experience, then you go in the clubhouse and are greeted by a motley crew of staff and that’s being kind it’s a shambles. The shop was ok apart from the miserable looking guy working in there it just gets worse though....then you play the golf course and you wished you would have fallen in one of the potholes and never come out, worse course I have ever played and I have played all over the world and a lot of courses in this country greens were terrible, fairways awful, the whole course was tatty looking are there greenkeepers working here because I didn’t see any and if there are well I’m not sure they really care. Beadlow has got a bad reputation but I wanted to see for myself as I have a good friend that plays there so he invited me to play...never again and he said he won’t be renewing his membership and lots others feeling hard done by within the club.

Just avoid the place it’s a total waste of money! In fact it’s not that good...sorry folks!

Golferboy

Played the course with a member and was horrified how bad the greens are...he informed that the water system hasn’t worked properly for years and the owners will never want to invest any money into getting it to work properly, saw members of the greenstaff on there phones nobody looks like they care...the whole place looked run down and neglected I feel sorry for the members who would have parted with good money to join such a shambles!

Course in reasonable nick. Some of the ball washers had no water in them and some fairways in need of cutting.

Very Poor!!

The place is such a mess from the moment you drive in. Boarded up and dilapidated buildings all around!! We had to play the Baroness because the Baron was down to 9 holes as the newer 9 greens had been 'lost'!! Why? The course was in a really poor condition. Tees were long, fairways were covered with weeds and the greens were dreadful. They were very slow and had lots of bare patches and long grass laying on them. I Played in a Club Match so thankfully didn't have to pay a green fee but to be honest £10 would be too much. There are much better courses near by to play golf on.

Good layout but poor condition

It's such a shame as this club has two really good 18 hole loops but is in very poor condition.
I played the Baron (the longer and in my opinion the better) and whilst the fairways were not too bad, the tees and greens were very poor and almost unplayable. Not sure what is happening but I did receive a kind discount on green fee and £18.50 for a mid week round is very good.
They are trying to turn the club around after a long period in the duldrums and a new pro shop opened recently on site.
I still love playing here and if the course quality can be improved it would be a great place to play.
Staff are always very friendly and hopefully the courses will improve to match soon!

Needs attention

The Baroness course is in much need of some TLC. The tees and fairways are in good order but the greens are in an appalling state.

Played Baroness course for first time in two years. Layout is fine and the fairways were in good shape. The greens need some improvement and are very slow. In terms of value it is fine. Staff are very friendly. The landfill project has minimal impact on the golf. Course is quite short which was good. Happy with round.
