A very accessible and affordable course for less experienced golfers.
Tight at times which added to the challenge. Very flat (due to being constructed on an old airfield).
The course is clearly getting some investment in the form of planting and design.

I've played this course many times, its quiet and interesting. It drains quite well, and the green are excellent thanks to a lot of investment thats gone into them. I particularly like the holes 1, 2 & the par 5. Its OK for a 9 hole and in better condition than many local courses which are often overused.
It reminds me a lot of some of the country courses you find in the West Country, Wales etc., its difficult to believe you are so near central london.
The clubhouse is OK too I hope you enjoy.

Puds - High Wycombe rated 2 out of 5

I can understand where people are coming from in the previous reviews for Hedsor, but at the end of the day it's only a short 9 hole course playing as a par 66 off the yellow tees on a round of 18. There are a number of great courses in that area well worth playing, Hazelemere, Flackwell Heath, Wycombe Heights (£30 during peak times), Beaconsfield, Lambourne but these are predominantly members courses and so a lot more expensive to play. Hedsor shouldn't and can't be competing with these courses it's not a course for a regular handicap golfer but I think it is suited to being much more a beginners course. Whilst you've got the Par 3 down at Wycombe Heights only a short drive away, Hedsor offers that opportunity for people aren't yet handicap golfers but are looking to hit longer shots that the par 3 can't offer and out on an actual course that the driving range can't replicate. So I'll say it's an ideal course for people starting out and are looking for a cheap round of golf in and around the High Wycombe area. I'll also agree with other reviews that if you want to travel that bit further or live out that way or want a couple of other ideal courses for beginners to experience you've got The South Buckinghamshire (formerly Farnham Park), Iver and Wexham Park is very welcoming towards visitors and good value. As for the course itself as I've said it is a cheap pay a play course and you get what you pay for. The course is only 12 years old and doesn't feel that established as other people have said. It is very flat as it was previously used for landing private light aircraft and the grass runway is still there running through the middle of the course. There is a couple of challenging holes but because I view as a course to fill the void of Par 3 to main course for beginners I think these the holes don't encourage good scoring for this type player. The 1st and 4th holes for example are both dogleg par 4's but the dog is to extreme and too far down the hole so most solid drives leave you with a blind shout in over trees. This is fine if you play regularly and know the yardage and line but if you haven't played it a few times it trickier than it needs to be in my opinion. The second as well is a 456 yard par 4 off the yellow tees but only 13 yards longer off the whites which also is on a raised tee and plays as par 5, so much easier (I can't see why they don't make it a par 5 as standard for both tees) The 3rd also has a funny par to it but one that probably helps your typical beginner at 245 yards it should be a very long Par 3 but in this case they have made it par 4.Unfortunately if you play a full 18 there is no difference in the holes on the front or the back 9 off the yellows. There is a couple that play different on the white but it's a shame they can't mix it up a bit more and have some different tee boxes for the back 9 because there is enough space in there to do so. I know this goes against what I've said previously but I also wonder if it would do better as a par 3 course as there is definitely space to get a full 18 of decent par 3's on the site. It's a friendly course but lacks any atmosphere I don't think that helps the fact that the course is tucked away in the countryside and not far from well known course in the area that are easier to get to. It's a course that you tend to turn up play and go home or go down a pub afterwards. Most clubs are currently struggling to make money but Hedsor feels like it is in that position more than others. Maybe i'm wrong it's privately owned maybe it doesn't need much and is ticking over for what the owners want it to be. I just feel that with Wycombe Heights down the road being a much better club with greater facilities (full course, par 3, full floodlit driving range, pro shop, nice clubhouse lounge and bar) what's the future for Hedsor? Even if it fulfils the role that I've said how long before people go and play the full course at Wycombe Heights. Pros: Cheap course suitable for beginners offering more length and variety than a par 3 or a driving range. Cons: The quality of course is ok if you're starting out but it's not going to please regular golfers nor is the fact that none of the holes are that inspiring. The fact they promote the fact the course was opened by Miss Great Britain 2000 on the sign welcoming you to the course always seems odd and doesn't right with me. I'm not saying gold should be an elitist sport but it just seem up to standard which probably sum Hedsor Golf Club up.

Worthy of a visit

Along with all courses its getting busy and being 9 holes to play 18 ie 9x2 has its challenges with the increased interest. Its has a little club house and has a licence to serve alcohol. No food. Its what it is...4 a rustic pleasant and friendly course. The course might seem simple but a player is wise to consider each

A relatively short 9 hole course that is trickier than the card makes it look.
Not one that can be overpowered, but requires a little guile, especially off the tees (in particular the 3 consecutive par 3s).
The clubhouse is welcoming, if a little understocked and there's no food available apart from standard bar snacks.
Good, fun option for experienced players and ideal for novices as it is generally flat and provides an opportunity to work through all the clubs.

Lovely Course, Good Value for Money

Nice, generally flat Par 68 course. Ideal for beginners, but more challenging than the card suggests.
Some fun holes and it's in very good condition at present.
Friendly clubhouse environment, although there is no food on offer.

Great 9 hole course out in the countryside. The short holes have hedges and trees to go over to get to the green and some tricky bunker placements. Whole course is tree lined which rewards straight hitters.
