Hilly with Great Views
I played the front nine here today and enjoyed it.The first 4 holes have three par 5's to throw you in, but because of the view they are crackers. The 10th starts again at the clubhouse.
The 5th hole is called The Valley and they aren't joking! It is a Par 3 but you will have to launch the 180 yards to avoid "The Valley" below.
The greens were perfect, and although windy and hilly, it was great fun.
I played in the sunshine and couldn't have picked better golf weather.
The bar has a great view and those £1.50 sausage rolls are bang on!
Will return for an 18 in the Winter.

Set high up overlooking Brighton and with brilliant vistas, it is innevitably going to be a bit "breezy", but thankfully on our second vist in June 2012, the weather was kind, and was just a "slight breeze" - no doubt the locals would call it still!
My report is obviouslly tinged with a plus as I managed 36 points, miles ahead of the nearest itinerant's. The course certainly needs to be played with a certain amount of brain cells, something which I normally tend to leave in Dorset but luckilly was achievable on this visit. As mentioned before, an unusual start with 3 par 5's in the first 4 holes, but in truth, in fair conditions, these should show you at least a couple of pars. The course is a fine chalk downland test with one or two blind shots, lovely true greens and a very fair bounce. A Traditional members club that like many others is having to pull itself into the 21st century, but is doing so well although no chips after the round was a little off!
Still, overall, fine test, lovely true greens, warm clubhouse & Shop and as long as you can get a good green fee deal , avenue well worth of a visit

Friendly staff and lovely greens.
Coarse in good condition, reasonably fast greens, tee boxes good and little rough to worry about. Staff friendly and helpful. Re vamped club house and changing rooms, look good.Down side having to pay non refundable full money up front for 20 players. No difference in cost for bacon roll or full English? Small societies like ours cannot afford that as we collect the monies on the day.

Love the course and the wind plays its part
Up on the South Down, everytime i play the wind is in a different direction and swirling around the course. 3 par 5's in the first 4 holes; either 1st 2 downwind and 4th against or vive versa but should be wind across for a 3. The 6th hole, stroke index 1 plays uphill and the wind will catch a well struck drive and move it in whatever direction. Generous fairway but hardly ever find the ball on it. Currently a lot of new tees being built and irrigation ditches which means some of the holes are playing up to 50 yrds shorter. Greens always well maintained and as you would expect from a links course, with a bit of sand. Stimp on the day - 10.Reviewer Rating

Good course tricky greens
A long course right on top of the downs overlooking the English Channel. Tricky greens and if the winds blows this is a test for any golfer.(Round played: Jul 2018 - Score: 88 Handicap: )
