Great Course - stuck in ancient times
This is an amazing links course host to next years Open. Everything about the course lived up to expectations. However, how archaic to put a group of 150 golfers crammed into the tiny Snack Bar after finishing the round rather than remove the stuffy requirement of Jacket and Tie in the main Lounge (obviously empty). This is not the way forward.Reviewer Rating

Deserved No1
Not much I can add to what has already been said. Simply wonderful.Fully-deserving if its ranking as England?s No1. Every hole an experience and adventure..especially some of the routes I took!
A demanding but fair test where good shots can be rewarded, if you avoid the bunkers! A complete privilege to play.

Not what I expected
This course is rated no.1 in the country & held several Major championships. Now don't get me wrong it's a very nice course & full of history. Just didn't live up to the hype. Played in the winter in the freezing cold 40mph wind which made it tough. Not impossible though & think on a summers day it could be got at. Needed a caddy which helped. Just not quite the picturesque scene I had hoped for. It's on the coast but can barely see the seaside. Bear in mind it's very expensive. I've played a lot better courses.Reviewer Rating

True Links
Not a flashy venue but so much history and tradition take a while to look at the clubs, trophies and memorabilia from past opens in the cabinets in the clubhouse. Great changing rooms and the staff were 1st class from the pro shop, clubhouse and green staff. Get the full English it will keep you going all day!! Yes having to wear a jacket after 11am is a bit old fashioned but that’s there tradition and adds to the grandure of the place. The course was in great condition for the time of year and every hole is different and depending on wind direction can play very long or shorter than expected I wouldn’t say a caddy is vital but a course planer is. The fairways are undulating and make for some tricky approach shots!
This is a true links gem. And at £100 off peak fantastic value.

Golfs garden of Eden
A true test of golf, beautiful layout to forget the real world and walk in the footsteps of the greats of this wonderful game.My favourite course by a country mile the blind shots punishing bunkers and sloping greens it's heaven.
Wonderful wonderful venue
Shame on anyone who can find fault at St Georges

Overhyped
Clubhouse and facilities much smaller and less inspiring than anticipated. Jacket and tie requirement after 11am is a little pretentious for such a venue. Course was immaculate and greens very good but overall it lacks great golf holes. Bucket list course but there are much better courses and venues. Not a patch on Turnberry for exampleReviewer Rating

Hugely Enjoyable
Only managed to get 9 holes played the previous week due to horrendous weather. Good to experience a true links course at its worst (weather). The club were kind enough to allow us to re-book and the conditions couldn't have been more different. Bright sunshine/no wind and a true pleasure to play the course. On both occasions found the staff to be most welcoming and friendly. Superb.(Round played: Jun 2017 - Score: 98 Handicap: )
