Back to its level

Under a new management, the course is back in the Phuket top 23. With a very challenging but beautiful and creative design, the canyon course is aimed at solid golfers and is now in very good condition for a fair test of good.

Lakes better value

We played Lakes twice this year rater than play both Canyon and Lakes. The reason is that Lakes provides a great challenge for all levels and includes plenty of variety. Canyon is obviously longer but i prefer the beauty of the Lakes rather than the challenge of bunkers.
The changing rooms are adequate, although they are getting somewhat dated and worn. But they do the job. The bar area has a spectacular view and is adequate, although i personally prefer the open bar at the end of Lakes course overlooking the last hole.
Lakes is cheaper, which is perhaps why we chose to play the course twice, but for mid handicappers it provides enough of a challenge. The caddies are fantatsic and I particulalry like that you can choose your own, this enabled us to have caddies that we could engage with and that we knew would know the course (my caddy also plays golf so very helpful).

Lots of changes

Considering this is supposed to be one of the top courses in Phuket I was a little surprised by the condition of the course. The fairways contained quite a bit of moss/weed and some of the greeens were patched or contained a lot of sanded areas.
It it still beautiful, but I think there are other courses that are more value for money at the moment.

The course is in good shape and the caddies are very nice and easy to work with, also read the greens well. The Clubhouse is dated but while I was there the upgrades were being done.

Played Lakes course twice this time around, once before the two day deluge of rain and once afterwards. The course drained very well considering. Always find the course a challenge, even from the red tees as water comes into play on all but the 17th hole. Some rough patches and obviously a little bit of the course was wet after the rain, but all in all a good experience. Having beer at the end overlooking the course was preferable to going to the clubhouse. I do find the locker room is a little dated now, but functional and you can at least get a shower after the round.

Nice to be back on the course. Seems they have implemented and suggest buggies as a norm, although you can still walk the course if you want to. Fairways in good condition, with lightning fast greens.

Nice course but now looking a little tired and past it's prime. Still a good test.
