What the club says: In the southern coast of Tenerife, just bordering the sea, we find Amarilla Golf and Country Club. From the course you will enjoy the incredible views of the majestic Mount Teide. During your round you are surrounded by a broad variety of typical canarian flora. The designer of the course, Donald Steel, was able to take advantage of the beautiful contrasts of the Island to achieve a varied course between ravines and the Atlantic Coast. From the first tee, the player discovers the spectacular ocean views. The most impressive part of the course reaches its peak at the 5th hole: This is truly a gem for golf lovers, where the sea becomes a fairway, making it necessary to cross it in order to reach the green.

Good Course (under some renovation)
On a holiday, Amarilla is a tight manageable course. It has undergone some renovation adding three new holes and we change going forward, enjoyable enough and challenging at times.Reviewer Rating

Fantastic Course, But Watch Out for Thieves
This is an excellent course, really well laid out, challenging and fun. The greens are pristine, really fast and true. Some of the views are brilliant. The only downside to the course is that it's extremely tight for those who like more space, and there is a fair amount of construction taking place around the boundaries.The downside was that my wallet was stolen from my golf bag while it was in the buggy by the driving range. The buggy was parked in the buggy park right next to the range, but it isn't in clear view and there are no cameras. Somebody stole my wallet and my playing partner's wallet. The club took our details down but basically there's nothing that will be done. They need to address this issue with security or having the buggy park visible to the range.

Unfortunately under 2 much maintenance
The weather and course under maintenance took a lot away from this course. To many holes revised teeing areas and building works alongside some holes take a lot away from the course.Reviewer Rating

Course was in poor condition in quite a few plcaces. lots of areas with dead grass. it is a challenging course, especially in the wind.Greens were good and fast.

great course lighting fast greens like putting on glass wasn't keen on Marshall felt as though he was continuously pressuring to play faster didn't like that other than that lovely course and amazing landscape and some cracking holes

Always great to play
Looking at recent reviews was worried how long it would take to get round this course but must have timed it right as it was fairly quiet and hardly any hold ups and I played as solo. Course in good condition, greens very good. Some great looking holes playing down towards the sea. It's a fair walk around but enjoyable as you meander in and out of villas and apartments. Well worth playing for sure. Good practice facilities with driving range and putting greens. Even has a pitch and putt adjacent. Nice bar for a pint and snack after your round.(Round played: Mar 2022 - Score: 77 Handicap: 6.2)

Greedy owners
The course is in an okay condition, has some lovely holes, but the management are overbooking there course which is resulting in chaos on the first tee and 5.5 hour rounds. Not worththe money Nov-March.Golf Del Sur in bettter condition, better organised and better value for money.

Nice course, fairways being cut at time, good medium paced greensYou need to get your range finder watch set up before actually getting on course as it is on the approach path to airport runway and will not pick up sat?lites once on the course so do it a couple of kilometres away if possible

Excellent views and some outstanding holes make this a very enjoyable course to play. The signature 5th and lovely uphill par 5 16th will stay long in the memory

Pleasantly surprised
First time playing Amarilla and was not expecting too much from previous reviews but I was pleasantly surprised. Adequate practice areas, nice shop, good bar area. Course in good condition, greens are amongst best I have played on, quick, true roll but hard to read can easily 3 or 4 putt if not careful especially when windy as it was when I played. Stunning views on holes down to coast and equally back inland with views of Teide. Couple of nice par 3s over the sea, especially the 5th hole. Tough finishing holes 16 to 18 can wreck a good card. It's a fair walk around with a few ups ad downs, buggy recommended for some. Be prepared for round to take around 4.5 to 5 hrs though as pace of play generally seemed slow. Would play it again for sure if only to get the measure of the greens. Bar area serving reasonably priced food nice to muse over your round.(Round played: Mar 2018 - Score: 82 Handicap: 6)

Very scenic course
If you like sea & mountain views, great greens, tees and fairways, and you happen to find yourself in the SE of Tenerife, then you can do far worse than by playing Amarilla. There are some lovely holes here, especially the two par 3's down by the ocean. The 5th is a short hole where you play over the Atlantic, the 12th plays alongside the marina.Mostly the fairways are fairly generous, and any houses are a decent distance away from trouble, but I wasn't especially impressed with either the 4th or 6th, where the homes came more into play than I'd have liked. Another downer were a couple of holes with distance markers missing.
There was a very pleasant welcome in the reception when booking myself in, and the clubhouse is just gorgeous.
