fairways are wide and basic the greens were in apoor state when we played room for improvment. Not the most exciting course. After the game it took five minutes for the staff to attend the bar. When we went back to order food the lady in the shop had to call for the satff to attend the bar. Not the best service. Although teh club house was nice it was empty for the houir we were there

I can imagine that a lot of people would have given this course a very good review but not on the dates we played here unfortunately. The setting was very nice as was the clubhouse and facilities. The course itself was quite a challenging play with a lot of water to stay away from but the greens and tees were in a seriously bad condition. The tees fell apart when feeing off but more importantly the greens appeared to be 98% sand so nearly every ball made a pitch mark which was so hard to repair the grass all across the repair and resulting in bald patches all over every green giving bouncing and bobbling putting which ruined everyone final scores on nearly every hole. One of our group actually had a plugged ball on the green! Golfbreaks.com did work well with us and agreed to change our last game to another course as we were supposed to play this course again on the last day which would have spoilt our entire trip.

Lots of water!!
Course was not in the best of condition but it’s near the sea so maybe that had an effect. Very windy and overcast on the day. Challenging with water hazards on the majority of holes. Nice clubhouse, poor practice facilities for a course like thisReviewer Rating

Lots of water
On my latest trip to Portugal, this was the only course which I had played previously, so I knew there was a lot of water, as this is a coastal course which makes good use of the terrain to bring water into play on all holes except the 17th.As we could walk to the course from our hotel, we played it 3 times, including on an allocated 'day off', where 3 of us wanted to play. First day was very windy, which made avoiding the water even more difficult, and we even had to put up with rain on the third round, which slowed down the very quick greens. The greens were consistently the same speed, which always helps, but some rain in the days before our arrival meant that there were puddles around the course, even if it meant you could fire the ball into the greens and it would hold.
Whilst the water (and in our case wind) makes it difficult to keep the ball in play, the course itself is a fair challenge, and is not overly long off the yellow or red tees.
Food in the clubhouse was well priced and tasty. The staff were very friendly, although on one occasion there was some confusion about whether we had booked/changed a tee time. However, because it was a quiet time of year, we fitted into the booking schedule without too much ado.
Because we had an extra game, we found out the cost was 60Euro, which in my opinion is a little overpriced, but there are deals to be made if you want to haggle for a group discount.
Bunkers were reasonably stocked with sand, although the rain before we flew into Faro meant the sand was a little compacted. They had also sanded a lot of areas which had gotten very wet, which made things look untidy, but generally, those areas were not in play.
Overall, I would recommend, but only for a single round, and I'm fairly sure I'll play it again, just for the challenge of trying to keep the same ball in play for 18 holes!
