Golf course is in terrible condition with total lack of maintenance.
Hard to find grass on most tees & several greens with bare earth instead of grass.
I could name tens of public courses that are far superior

I am a visitor from overseas, staying with relatives in Black Rock. While here in the Melbourne area I have taken the opportunity to play a few golf courses. Booking a tee time at Brighton was easy and the pro shop welcome was very warm. The condition of the course however was very poor in comparison to a couple of other public courses I have played here. The tee boxes were full of divots, and it looked as if the tee markers had never been repositioned. The fairways were very barren in places and again there were a lot of unrepaired divots. I realise that this is a public course but it looked as if course maintenance was very infrequent. The bunkers looked as if they had not had sand topped up for some time and at some of them there were no rakes. The greens however were quite consistent, throughout the course, being both receptive and consistent from a putting speed perspective.
If you just want a quick round to get some practice then the course does offer a few challenges but overall I think there are better maintained public courses available nearby in the area for lower green fee pricing..
