Don’t waste your money. Tee boxes and fairways in very poor condition. The greens are diseased. Needs serious investment

Hi,
Thank you for taking the time to review Gatton Manor Golf Course.
We wanted to take this opportunity to make you aware of the recent challenges we have faced with our greens and how we are dealing with them going forward and investing in
the whole course in general.
At the back end of July 2021, our greens developed a disease (which is not uncommon) and unfortunately, it was not treated correctly by our then Course Manager. We decided to recruit a complete new greenkeeping team our new Course Manager who started with us in September recognised the disease straight away and has set about controlling it to limit its spread.
We have invested in a whole new fleet of greenkeeping equipment which we expect to take delivery of in June. We appreciate that our golf course has not been presented anywhere to the level of condition and presentation synonymous with Gatton Manor. Our aim moving forward is to take the current layout including the presentation to another level.
We look forward to welcoming you back to Gatton Manor, you will see and enjoy a vast improvement in the quality of the golf course.

Interesting course
Gatton is a mainly tree lined, countryside course with a variety of holes. Some of the holes give a risk and reward opportunity. All in all, a very pleasant but challenging course to play.

Worth a visit
Gatton is on the way back to its best with changes happening to both the course and club house. After neglect by previous owners the course is improving.

Great layout but disappointing condition
Really good challenging layout. Long but playable. Tees and fairways pretty good.
Greens poor though for late August and bunkers seem to have been abandoned (full of weeds!)
Needs some work putting into it! Wouldn’t rush back…
(Round played: Aug 2021, Handicap 8.3, score terrible!

Beautiful and challenging course
Lovely challenging course, the weather was horrific which meant the ball stopped where it landed on the greens, however the greens played very well considering the conditions. Will definitely be back when the sun's out.

Played yesterday and found an improvement on the course. There is a new course Manager and has only been there a week but we could see things are being worked on. Greens are getting much better and fairways had been well cut. Some of the rough has been cut down and it was a pleasure to play.

What a difference a couple of weeks make!!!
We last played Gatton Manor a couple of weeks ago and have to agree with some of the earlier reviews, it looked scruffy and unkept. When we played Saturday it was like a different course, no rough, tee boxes cut and tidy and bunker raked and weeded. The golf shop staff told us that they have a new course manager and a couple more green staff and it shows. The course is looking more like it was a few years ago. Well done Gatton Manor you've turned the corner for the better. We will definitely be back.

Course in poor condition - faded elegance
This may have been a championship standard course many moons ago. But not now. Played here a few years ago and standards have plummeted alarmingly! Tees with long grass, greens with poa annua (annual meadow grass) infestation. Bumpy greens in poor condition. Tine holes still visible with no top dressing to fill them in. Fairways with what appeared to be mole hills flattened down. Bacon bap before the round was in a very hard brioche bun. Oh and the coffee was out of a machine and luke warm. Not nice. However, the burger and chips after the game was very nice indeed.
