Superb Improvements Made - You need to try it !

Styrrup is improving month by month under the new ownership. Bunkers are superb, greens like lightning, new hazards added, new tee boxes added, trees taken down and areas cleared. Food and drink has been upgraded along with the restaurant and toilet areas. There is an external coffee and snack machine by the first tee and this is just half of what I hear is planned. If you haven't been in the last year, you need to return as this course is fast becoming the course everyone wants to play because they know its stepped up its game. The layout is great and with really challenging holes like 3, 6, 9 and 16 to contend with it will challenge any golfer. I saw a review on here about holes crossing over each other, not sure why someone would put that as the actual holes don't cross its just the paths to the tee off points cross in a central area. I would recommend a visit as I am absolutely certain you will not be disappointed for the cost and quality.

Played this course in February 2020 when the weather wasn't great. The course was in decent condition. I should imagine this course will be in great condition in the summer months so looking forward to playing it again.

Really nice course with a mixture of challenging holes for all standards of golfer.
Only complaint was the lack of sand in the bunkers which wasn't helpful especially on the green side bunkers.
Wasn't overly impressed with the club house as it seemed a little rowdy. Was kids doing cartwheels on the practice putting green and no one saying anything to them
A few unsavoury characters hanging about as well

Good Nick In Winter

Was our first visit to this course and we were pleasantly surprised , considering all the rain we have had, how good both the fairways and greens were. Most fairways and greens had a good roll on them and the only criticism we would have would be some of the holes cross over each other and the layout is a little confusing and better signage could be used to find the next tee! It will be good to go back there in the summer and see the difference and make a proper judgement

Great nick and new procedures

I haven't played the course for over a year due to experiencing many other courses during lockdown, however what a pleasure to be back when it's in this good nick. New wristbands to show you've paid, a Marshall on tee 1 and the course in superb condition. The combination of long and short holes always gave it a better feel than other courses in the area and it weathers every type of conditions. Food and drink have always been top notch here and now they have made it all a bit more professional I can see only improvements in the future. We played on a Thursday twilight and paid ?13.75 each .. wow .. what a bargain !

Good value

Played mon 3rd feb. Having not played for a few months due to the prolonged wet South Yorkshire autumn/winter I was pleasantly surprised how dry the course was ( only a couple of wet areas on the 6th hole ) overall course played well, greens a little bobbily but nicely paced, on all normal tee boxes and the bunkers were in good condition ( ground staff were adding new sand on our visit) . Joined up with 2 other visitors as the pace was a little slow in front but still
Thoroughly enjoyed our day for 15quid

Nice established tree lined course

A nice established tree lined course with one of the longest par 5's ever played (664 off yellows). Well set out in good condition, great clubhouse, excellent food, staff were welcoming. Will return again. Great value for money.

Lovely course

Well worth a visit, was surprised at the amount of green still on the fairways despite the draught! Greens kept well too, plays into the wind on alot of he holes which makes it a challenging course. Only negative was the distance between tee boxes, makes the course feel a little disjointed.

Soft but very playable.

Course was soft, as you'd expect at this time of year, but there were no temps in use and the greens were in reasonable nick. £15/round is also a fair price in my mind.

Nice course, greens were in great condition, not too fast very true but best of all held the ball so you are able to attack the pin with confidence knowing that it's not going to bounce through. I really enjoyed playing this course, the only slight drawback is that there's quite a bit of walking between the holes from green to tee. Overall it's a great course, green keepers have done a great job keeping the rough under control making it easy to find and play your ball even if you miss the fairway.

I recently joined as a member at Styrrup Golf Club. Greens are in excellent condition as so are the fairways. This course is fairly challenging and tight in some places. The course is fairly long. You will be able to use a driver off most of the tees. As I play with a handicap of 26 it is the ideal course for me to improve my game. All the staff are very friendly as to are all the members, and facilities are fantastic (Driving Range, Club House - excellent meals and a nice pint, Pro Shop - stocked well, Putting Practise Green, Chipping Practice Area and plenty of parking) The course is fairly new with plenty of new trees and shrubs that are not fully grown. I can imagine in a few years time it will be a very challenging and imaculate course if it is looked after in the way it already is. Would highly recommend this golf club to anyone of any standard.

Very very disappointed

Played here about 15 years ago. Thought we would give a try after all this time and travel a little bit further than we normally do and play it again..... wish we hadn't have bothered!!! Greens and tee boxes in a shocking state. Understand we have recently had some dry weather condition, and fully understand that there is nothing you can do in regards to the fairways, but not taking care of the greens and tees is inexcusable!!. More sand on the tee boxes than there was in some of the bunkers, greens patchy with what can be best described as ares of concrete??. Lot of walking in between some of the tees!!. Only plus side is the clubhouse. Nice veranda and nice interior decor....(golfers must go upstairs) as we found out by trying to get served in the downstairs bar. Seems they have invested in the clubhouse rather than the course. If I was a member here I would be asking for either my money back or a serious discount until it gets back to a playable standard. Played local municipal courses in our area that are in a lot better condition compared to Styrrup !!!
