36 of us in total. Clean modern club house . Bacon rolls and coffee on arrival , great first impression sadly this is were it ends . The course is in rubbish condition green must be worst I've ever played on , tees very close to greens ending in one of the party being hit by a stray golf ball.
Course is dull to play not at all interesting in anyway. Food after was poor quality .
We did speak to the head pro after, told him what happened on the course . He really couldn't of cared any less .
Don't think our society will be returning to the Bristol sadly .

Looks like it could be a great course in the summer. But it's so wet now it virtually unplayable! We should not have been charged full price to play on a marsh!Reviewer Rating

Excellent condition
The only criticism i had about the course was that it seemed to have too many people on the course that did not know how to conduct themselves and dress code was not good. Lots of society groups out and this may of been the reason. The marshal was very good and was checking up on everyone but it did seem to be very slow. I would not recommend this club as this seemed to be a fault on the day. We completed the course in 4.5hrs but the other groups before us i was told completed the course in 5.5hrs, which is not good. The club was quiet and did not have any atmosphere, and the bar staff looked like they wanted to go home and lock up . Not good really and this does need to be addressed. we teed off at 1400hrs and just got back in time before it got dark. Some building work was being done on the back three holes but this in fairness never effected our game. We are all members of other clubs around the Bristol area and we all felt that these issues should be addressed. One final point the showers we also used, and they were in fact cold.(Round played: Oct 2021 - Score: 104 Handicap: 24.5)

The club house seemed to have a lot more activity and the staff was very helpful. The only downside was that the drink was or seemed expensive

Good course
Decent course with a good variety of holes. The longer hitter probably had the advantaged on this course because there is room for error but there are odd holes where tactical play might be king with large trees getting in the way if you hit the wrong part of the fairway. There are a number of greens which have been elevated so finding the pin can be tricky and the bunkers are compacted.Greens and fairways in excellent condition ball cleaners and bins throughout the course and the course is fairly easy walking until the walk between the 17th and 18th holes which is quite steep but is a concrete path. The views are similar to what you get at Thornbury golf course up the road but you’re exposed to them a little more.
Good course wouldn’t pay full money of over £28 for a round though after 4pm £17 seems reasonable. £1.40 for a bottle of water is a bit of a rip off considering you can by a pint of quality cider for £2 in tesco...

Few holes where still a bit boggy, once dried out this will be a good course. Some very challenging holes, chance to get the driver out a lot, is open in places.

The Bristol golf club course provided an interesting round. First of all as all my reviews I start with the simple stuff. There are plenty of bins and ball cleaners around this club to keep most players happy. Two moans I will have though is the new yardage markers, I don’t understand why the new yardage markers are discs on the fairway and not stakes/posts next to the fairway. You have to be on top of them to see the marker. A stake/post you can see from 100s of yards away, surely it would speed up play if the golfers don’t have to hunt yardage markers? My second moan is that signage from the green to the next tee could be slightly better as we found ourselves having to refer to the course map on the card, which again slows play down.
This is a lovely course which is challenging for most golfers but not daunting for the average to high handicapper as the hazards are quite minor. There is a nice variety of short and long holes for their par and a mix of par3,4 and 5s. A couple of holes require you to hit over water which always makes it a little more exciting but you don’t feel like you’re always having to avoid. The first two holes play ontop of the hill looking over the Severn estuary, a similar view can be found at Thornbury golf course up the road and Stinchcombe Hill further up the river again. On the third hole you drop down the hill to play amongst some mature “woodland” which makes some local courses look immature. I was lucky to play in October when the leaves were turning which made the area look rather spectacular in the drizzle. The greens are well maintained for the time of year and the fairways are outstanding. The bunkers were compacted from the nights rain which made them a little painful at times to play out form. But considering the rain the course was very firm under foot.
I got a good deal using teeofftimes to play this course as normally the course is out of my budget. Although this is a lovely course with interesting holes and beautiful scenery I wouldn’t pay £30 a round as advertised on their web site. When there are other courses of similar quality in the area. However if you get a good deal it is certainly worth a nock. If you are local and used to playing Thornbury golf course and Woodlands, I would highly recommend you try Bristol golf club when the opportunity arrives.
