I hadn't played yelverton for a few years, but was pleased to return. The course is a quirky moorland course, but in much better condition than I remembered and still a few animals roaming the course.
Food ok, but will definitely be back to okay again soon.

Lovely course. Old fashioned moorland course with nice greens.Fairly wide fairways, which are surrounded by gorse, so possible to lose some balls. Great condition and lots of animals roaming the course, which was different.

Yelverton is a terrific course - certainly and by far the best course in the Plymouth/West Devon/East Cornwall area.

It's playable on proper tees & greens all year around and offers plenty for everyone - there are both short & long versions of par 3's, par 4's & par 5's. You have to be accurate but you also have to hit the ball a decent distance. It offers scoring opportunities on the front 9 but the back 9 (particularly the stretch from 10 to 13, known to members as The Murder Mile - over 1500 yards covering 4 holes with no par 5's - 3 long par 4's & a tricky par 3) makes a score very difficult to maintain. It also has a difficult closing stretch from 16 - 18.

To sum up, it's a tremendous course and will test every facet of your game - if you don't hit it straight/keep your ball in play, you will pay the price. It's the best conditioned course around and nature has designed it, rather than some guy with a big ego and more money than sense trying to create something out of nothing and failing miserably, as is so often the case with new courses nowadays. Yelverton has been around for over 100 years for a reason!

Good course but lots of rough, if your not hitting straight you will loose balls on this course.

Great links that is open all year round as it's moorland grass and doesn't get overly wet

Interesting course as the fairways are covered with sheep and wild horses. If you arrive after 3 on a Sunday the course is only £20 and if you are down here on holiday I would advise this. The course gets tougher on the back nine and towards the end with some quite forgiving holes early on. Green are in very good conditions as there are ropes all around keeping the animals off. Some nice views of the area and a pleasent way to spens a summers evening.

Difficult course and one for the big hitters, accuracy essential as the fairways are bordered with gorse and it is easy to loose golf balls.
