Top Course

Really good course in excellent condition. Can be tough test with several long and difficult holes but visitors have the choice of which tees they wish to use, so suitable options for all levels of golfer. Made to feel welcome by pro shop staff upon arrival and by staff and members in the bar after the golf. Well worth a visit.

Nice course but not challenging

I played on my own this morning 9.30. Never played before. Three ball of members in front of me refused to let me through. Another four ball behind decided as I was waiting for these three in front to try and drive through me on the fairway to speed me up. Luckily his little baby drive was about thirty yards behind me but the point is the players say a lot about a club and to experience such poor etiquette in front and behind me means I won’t be going back to Withington. I walked off after 9 as it was taking an eternity with no sign of them letting me go through. It’s a shame as I imagine the course is decent in summer. Lots of developed trees and the greens were half decent.

Working away in Manchester, so thought I'd get a round in. Had seen this course on my travels around the area, so thought I'd give it a try. I was going to play on my own, but a member asked if I wanted to join him, so thought 'hey, why not. He knows his way round the course and I don't'. Hadn't played here before and was looking forward to the round. There's a good selection of holes, with some challenging, long par-4's, but some that give you a chance to score well. The conditions were a bit wet underfoot, but after the amount of rain recently, was to be expected. It didn't detract from the enjoyment of playing though. The member had to leave after 14 holes, but I finished the round, went to the clubhouse, had a beer and a sausage sandwich that was reasonably priced. Smallish pro-shop, but has what you might need. Decent clubhouse, with bar area on the 1st floor giving go views of the course. Would I go back and play again. Yes, but there's so many courses in the Manchester area that I'd like to play, I'm not sure I'll get the time to play here, as don't visit Manchester that often Worth a visit though, if you want a decent course, at a decent price.

Greens were in very good order
Mature course with lots of trees
Noise from nearby motorway can be annoying

'The Stretch'

Great Course in lovely condition. Very welcoming and lovely food. Some tough holes depending which tees you play from but we were offered the choice which is good.

The final three holes which have been named collectively as 'The Stretch' can be a real test for any golfer and the club provides society's and visiting groups with a courtesy 4 ball 'Master of the Stretch' voucher to be presented to the individual with the best score on these holes. I didn't win the voucher, blobbed on 2 of the 3 but this is a fantastic idea from the club and just adds to an overall great visit. Highly recommended.

played 9/8/2018, first time here, won,t be the last, superb track and great greens, only a minor thing which applies to lots of clubs, sand in the bunkers was all at the back of the bunkers and the front s were a bit short of sand, maybe the players all rake from front to back,, need one or 2 signposts to the next tee as one was a 200 yd walk back,

Very good as ever. Very wet, but they can't help that. All greens open and in good condition - some tee mats, but mostly tee boxes.

A tree lined parkland course in TIP TOP condition.
Flat to walk, so not tiring. One nice touch is the fact that should you miss the fairway and end up under the trees, the rough is cut very low so little or no chance of losing your ball.Staff & members very friendly.
A great course to play. Visited July 2014.
