I have played Windlesham on and off for 20 years and watched it grow into a superb track. Unfourtunately the course has been in decline over the last 4 years. This year played with my friend who is a member, really dissapointed for him as the greens were very poor indeed. The condition of the bunkers again was poor and very scruffy. The rough was like a council tip in places. The fairways were also burn't but i understand thst no water was used at all and this has killed off vast areas. That said it is a great clubhouse - although you don't feel lile you are inva golf club. Umtil i hear it changed i will save my money and give it a miss.

Nice enough course, but the day was slightly spoiled by the horrendous attitude of the staff in the pro shop, who took rudeness to new levels and were quite dreadful.

What's missing?
For some reason I can't get excited about Windlesham. Have played it several times over the last few years and I'm still trying to work out what it is that stops me liking it. So here goes......The layout is pretty good, but I really don't like the monster that is the 17th. It's a long hole but the killer is the moat that surrounds the green (it's not just a ditch!) which means unless you hit a terrific drive you're laying up and then hoping for a great approach to make par. Far too difficult a hole to be that late in the card.
The club house is modern but, IMO, it's too big to be cosy or friendly.
There's an air of snobbery from some of the members.
It's expensive (I know, it's in Surrey so what do I expect?) and there are much better courses none-to-distant that are cheaper and friendlier.

Course has changed enormously in the last year. All scrub and many trees have been taken out exposing the entire course and losing the feeling of individual holes.
Greens are still fast and true and rounds can take too long at weekends.

I have been going to windlesham for 20 years now, I used to be a junior member there back in the day and whilst the golf course has definitely improved I have to say the clubhouse hasn't really. Facilities are well presented and clean, but service is questionable as is the general running of the bar. I would also say everything there is on the expensive side, golf included. I know it's in Surrey but it's no wentworth!

Anjoy the course - one or two weak holes didn't give the club facilities and higher ranking due to the over haul. perhaps a tad unfair as they are very good and look forward to seeing what they have done. Good day out and would recommend

Haven of Peace
Windlesham is a lovely club, closely located just off the M3. Despite that, the traffic noise is barely noticeable.A challenging course, with plenty of water hazards for errant ball-strikers. Some very long and tough Par 4 holes.
Greens in lovely condition, and everywhere well-maintained and litter free. Bunkers in good condition despite the pandemic prohibiting use of rakes.
Lovely clubhouse serving great food & drink.

surprised it was open

Play here every year on a society day. Course is always a good test and was in very good condition given the huge downpour the previous day. Greens were consistent and had a nice roll to them. Extremely well looked after by all at the club and facilities and food are both excellent. Look forward to coming back next year.

Best in Surrey at present by far.
Visited this club several times over the last few years, always improving and by far the best condition I have seen it in ever. Lots of changes and one of the best conditioned courses in Surrey at present by far.Well worth a visit!Mark Handicap 10

recovering quickly
the course is recovering quickly from the drought conditions. Greens are still excellent and fast. Fairways are still bear in many places but generally in better condition than many other surrey courses.(Round played: Aug 2018 - Score: 98 Handicap: 19.7)

Windlesham GC
In the heat of the summer, Windlesham is no different to anywhere else. The fairways are baked and brown and the greens are a little too lush. The ball runs for miles, meaning you need to be straight, and the greens are a little slow, but understandably so given the weather. I would imagine when the fairways don't run so much and the greens are quicker, it would be a much different test.The 8th and 16th holes would be my least favourites. The 8th greens sets up widthwise and very shallow with a bunker in front and rubbish behind. The 16th has a ditch running across the fairway at about 200 yards (5 iron rolled in!) with another shallow green which sits widthwise to you with a hedge and OOB directly behind the green.
Clubhouse facilities could not be faulted. Showers excellent and bar and catering very good.
