On mats for a lot of the tees. Greens had been sanded. Course layout is not overly difficult with no stand out holes.Weren’t offered a reduction on our green fees so make sure before you pay the condition of the course.

Not a good review to write!
I will make this short. - Good pro shop and clubhouse.Golf Course -
Tees - Unkempt and uneven.
Fairways - Thankfully we were still playing winter rules. I know courses have suffered during the hot summer and the wet winter but these fairways were poor. Difficult to tell where the fairways finished and the rough started!
Bunkers - I have seen better also seen worse but a lot of stones.
Greens - Had been 'top dressed' so not altogether fair to assess them. But there were a lot of bare patches and i suspect they will not be good for a long time.
Signage - Have to say this was not terrific but luckily we were following some members. If you were not you could spend some time looking!!!
Crown golf must have a 'Course Guru' in its ranks. Suggest that he spends some time here as it needs all the help it can get.
I do enjoy my golf. I have to say for the first time this was not an enjoyable experience.
Sorry to the team at Wickham as I am sure they are doing their best or I hope they are

Unable to use the bar or changing facilities as the place closed up at 7pm (We finished just after 7pm)
One of our group paid for a buggy which was taken back after 9 holes because by the time we finished they would be closed. (Refunded £10 out of £24).
As a group we were overcharged by £72 (The day we played the web-site stated £40 for 4-ball after 2pm, we were charged £64).
A few weeks after playing I received a courtesy e-mail from the sales manager to "ensure you enjoyed your round and to find out if there is anything we can do too improve?".
I replied stating that we weren't overly happy at being overcharged and the facilities after finishing were non-existent and surprisingly enough there has been no response.
This was the 3rd time the group have played an annual tournament here - pretty sure there will not be a 4th time.

If you come to Wickham and don't expect anything too great, then I am sure you will not come away too disappointed. However, you will also not come away fulfilled and flush from a satisfying golf experience; the course is bland beyond belief and the greens are, not to put too fine a point on it, horrible. Owing to the featureless nature of most holes, the rough seems to have been left to grow wild, and just seems to swallow any ball which even trickles into it. Even in the first cut of rough it's very hard work indeed finding your ball.
I must also echo previous comments about some of the members as those I have encountered have certainly not left me with a positive impression. Deliberately slow play and deliberately high annoyance factor would appear to be part of the course etiquette at Wickham.
If you are after a cheap, quick round of twilight golf, then by all means come here and play, bearing in mind that for twelve Pounds English, you just about get what you pay for. There are worse courses out there, but not many. Otherwise, if you want a decent round, forget this place and get yourself to Meon Valley, Paulton's, Southampton City, Waterlooville, East Horton, or pretty much any other course on the South coast.

The Course is a parkland course which has wide fairways - It is difficult to lose a ball. The front 9 and second nine circuit in parallel and this results in a number of very similar holes. A dull and unimaginative golf experience made considerably worse by the some members who behaved particularly poorly.
Best avoided.
