Great Course
Played Whipsnade for the first time on Friday 22nd Sept with my eldest son. We were both very surprised after travelling along some very narrow lanes to find such a lovely course with practice areas and a lovely converted building into a clubhouse / bar / restuarante. Booked online as a 2 ball and had a great deal teeing off at 3.30pm. However when asking if we could T off early (as it didnt appear busy) the reception was a little offhand and we were curtly told that we had to wait and play with 2 other people as a 4 ball and that was why we had such a good Green Fee.!!! I recommend that this should be made clear at the point of online booking. However we waited and the guys didnt turn up the obligatory 5 mins before T time so we followed a single player and had a great round of golf despite the heavens opening up when we got to the 2nd T. Thunder and lightning imediately overhead but there was no siren - so we played on and it was great that we did. The round consisted of sunshine and showers and some brilliant golf by my son James. The holes are all individual tree lined fairways so you were immersed in the hole you are playing. 5 x par 5's, 9 x par 4's - 5 of which are close to 400yds, 4 x par 3's over a course yardage of 6393.We played the front nine in 1.1/2 hrs and the back nine in 1.3/4 hrs helped in part by James' great scoring. Playing off 8 and only 6 times a year he carded a Gross 3 over 76 dragging his old Dad along for the ride. Overall a great golf course, nicely maintained with very good consistant greens. Fairways are lovely and soft underfoot (grass - not wet soil) so the ball is sat up nicely.
I would totally recommend any one in the area to come and play the course. I play for our Seniors team and travel to many golf courses and this stands well above many that I have played.
My only other recomendation is that the scorecard is available online. Whilst the video is great most golfers love to view the card before we decide to play a course.

A little gem
First time I've played this and really glad I did. It's a lovely course and well worth a visit. The layout is very good and the course conditions were v.good. Greens rolled very well and very consistent (and surprisingly fast). Not the most difficult course, but it's not a really forgiving course either. I came off with 3 doubles, which is the most in 2 seasons - play off 8.Reviewer Rating

Well worth a visit
Only my second time playing this course, which is surprisingly flat considering the terrain you drive through to get to the venue. I first played this course as my first game after major surgery, so was very much hitting within self-imposed limits, which I did not have to worry about this time. Keeping the ball in play is however important, and meant that for the front nine at least; I scored to handicap, by playing conservatively. Messed up a couple of holes early on in the back nine, the eleventh down to mud on the ball which sent it into trouble and a treble bogey, and then on the following hole (stroke index 1), the hole length and then the slope on the green took their toll for a double bogey, leaving me 3 over my handicap for the day. The fairways, tees and greens were all in good order, with the little bit of mud around, only there because of a recent downpour. There was some mention of preferred lies, but my group did not use this. The bunkers looked very good, although to be fair, I managed to avoid them all for my round. The clubhouse is quite decent, with good food and reasonable prices. We were playing on a package as part of the Beds Police Golf Section’s Charity golf day for Beds Cerebral Palsy Society, so not always easy to judge pricing for individual parts of the event. The course is well laid out, although it is not easy to tell holes apart as they are mainly surrounded by the usual British trees, so can be quite similar. Quite a few doglegs, so positioning the ball can be crucial to leave a decent shot into the greens, or past the corners on the par 5 holes. All in all, I enjoyed the course (again), and would be happy to recommend, and will definitely play again.(Round played: Oct 2021 - Score: 86 Handicap: 10.3)

Good Value - Nice Course
Greens and fairways in very good condition. Well laid-out. There was one incident on 10th where the lack of sand in the bunker FR of the green (and substantial stones directly underneath) damaged a club. Both other bunkers visited on the rounds appeared OK.Putting green good. Driving Range good. We didn't try the chipping area.

NIce condition but a bit dull
The course is in excellent conditions, but its all a bit dull. All the par fours are between 350 and 400 and its all a bit faceless.Nice enough place but you wouldnt write home about it.

Didn’t do it justice
A lot of the holes to some, will seem very much the same, par 4’s and 5’s with slight doglegs. However, this course has a lovely feeling of being in the countryside, and I’ve never seen so much wildlife wandering around, especially with the zoo next door! Not the friendliest welcome on arrival, but a lovely little clubhouse, good practice facilities, and a well looked after course, greens and fairways were perfect. Played dreadfully, so I will look forward to coming back and trying again!Reviewer Rating

Better Than I Remembered
Played here July , 2020 .Pleasant , secluded hence there aren't really any views , quite heavily tree lined parkland course .Although it's quite long on the card with the shortest par 4 being 365 yards off the whites it is fairly level walking .
I played here once before a couple of years ago but this time i thought it was a better & more enjoyable course than i initially gave it credit for & i will try and return here soon .I think the first time the leaves had come off the trees but this time each hole felt more secluded with it's own identity .
Quite a lot of doglegs & the condition of everything felt good quality.
The only slightly strange thing was that most of the green complexes were nice and large but about half a dozen were smaller & a different shape ( for example , the 12th was long and narrow on an upslope ) & these greens seemed a bit out of context to the general scheme of the larger ones .
Also ,the course could maybe do with two short par 4's.
But overall worth playing & i would look forward to playing here again .
