Disappointing
I was a midweek senior member of this club for about 12 monthsI played in some interclub matches and met up with a great bunch of lads.
However, course conditions were very poor, and certainly the worst amongst the other local courses I played
It is such a shame that the course was poorly maintained and any promised course improvements rarely materialised.
During my short time there I regularly experienced weedy/bare greens, uncut tees, very slow repair to storm course damage, weedy bunkers without sand (although this was being addressed by volunteers when I left)
If you have a choice of local courses I would certainly recommend that you give this one a miss.

Absolutely appalling service!
My husband and I haven't played golf for years and decided we'd get on to our local club for a rusty round.
Never again! Even if someone offered to pay my green fees and carry my bags! Despite patiently waiting for the woman behind the bar to finish serving a customer, she completely ignored us and helped the man behind us! I am still in complete and utter shock at the situation. Even when we walked away and back again, it took her a while to even acknowledge us and then addressed in what can only be described as to make us feel like we were intruding. We felt like we almost had to apologise for being there! A couple of score cards almost chucked in our direction with ZERO guidance and we were dismissed!
I will never return and will actively advise others to go elsewhere.
Had we not been treated like we were, we may have overlooked the sad, sorry state of the course.
I am somewhat bemused this place is still open!

Worst course in the country
Tee boxes worse than some roughs. Fairways hardly cut. Greens not cut well and full of craters in some instances.Reviewer Rating

The course was empty. And once we saw the greens we knew why. Awful greens. Always, a, friendly welcome tho and the Guinness went down a treat.

Terrible
Played here today and I have never seen a course in such bad condition. The fairways had flowers growing on them and the bunkers had weeds in them. The greens were in such a bad condition and they were more like fairways than greens. Apparently they only have 2 greenkeepers for the whole course and it really shows. It cost me £20 as we teeded off in the afternoon and buggies were £25. I will not return and advise people to think carefully before they bookReviewer Rating

naff greens
Played in the evening course is ok but the greens are shocking. Never seen so many weeds on greens.(Round played: Jul 2017 - Score: 103 Handicap: 28)

I was once a member here and it was ok.
Now the fairways are more like rough. The greens are patchy. The tees are overgrown.
It was a real disappointment and i felt embarrassed getting my friends from work to drive 40 miles to come and play it with me.
Really is shocking.

Going downhill.
As one of the club's nearest to my home I have played at this club as a visitor for a while and as a relative newcomer to golf. It's a flat course with a few challenging holes especially those with raised greens. Lately I have been left disappointed with the condition of the greens which look like they are being neglected. Patchy surfaces, weeds, magpie dug holes not repaired. The fairways are ok though.As for their websites claim to be a friendly club, I've not experienced any effort from them to be welcoming. Yes, the staff appear to enjoy a laugh and a joke with regulars, but no real effort made to attract visitors. Will be finding elsewhere to play.

Not a long course but gentle to the OAP has some tricky shots off the tee pn par 3s so go for it!!

what a let down
Loads of grass currings on fairways and rough. Green full of moss and unrepaired damage that has been there at least a year since my last visit. Definately give West Turville a miss next time.Reviewer Rating

Fairways were in good condition for time of year. on winter mats until end of March. Greens very slow. easy walking but not very appealing. probably best for beginners and higher handicappers IMHO

Lets start with the good: A large pro shop with a friendly welcome and the course itself was in fair condition. The greens have some interest contours, however, the general layout of the course is very criss-crossy with the feel that everything has been crammed into a small space and apart from a few holes on the back 9 its all extremely ordinary. There are some water hazards but at least half of them are not really in play - I've seen this before on other courses and have never understood why this is done, unless to benefit the environment. Played November 5th score 96

Holes cross each other at certain points but it didn't interfere with our round really. Bit flat and straight, not too much variation.

Last time I played it the greens were absolute rockcakes, couldn't play proper golf - dodgy lies in fairways and remember hitting a wedge which I thought was perfect, pitched about 10 ft short of the hole, ran through the green by about 15 yards, like bouncing off concrete..

Getting back to its best
I write this as a member. Some reviews here are quite damning and it is true the course had a period when it was far from its best. The owner has invested in the facility and the greenkeeping staff are now back to full compliment, the catering department replaced and some bar staff changes made. The result is a course that is getting back to its best and hospitality that reflects WTGC's traditional warm welcome with good apres golf food and drink options.Bunkers still not perfect but mostly weed free and raked (if only all golfers would rake them when they've been in them they would be better still!!) , greens have been treated, hollow tined twice in 22/23 and due again this Autumn and whilst not the quickest now play well, and fairways and rough being cut regularly.
If you are local, have visited before and were disappointed, suggest dropping by to have a look and, hopefully, you will want to give WTGC another chance.

Course not long but has some lovely shortish golf holes with tricky positions very enjoyable if not a bit compact.

Horrendous greens
These are potentially the worst greens I’ve ever seen. There were weeds growing out of the greens themselves. The speed of green to green varied in huge amounts depending on how many weeds were on each.There is such little signposting to each tee that we probably spent 1/4 of the whole round looking for the next tee boxes.
The fairways need a good watering.
The staff were lovely and it was a cheap midweek evening round but unfortunately that didn’t compensate for the poor conditions and lack of simple expenditure on things like sign posts

Tight course
This is a very tight course with lots of interweaving fairways.Not that well maintained and winter tees and greens during the winter.
Bunkers are currently unplayable and weedy.

Well worth a visit
This was my first time playing here. Really well run friendly staff. Good course lovely condition. Greens really good. I would recommend this course to anyone. Not a course for massive drivers of the ball unless super straight! Good iron play positioning for holes, watch out for SI 1 you can cut more of the corner than you think!(Round played: Jul 2020 - Score: 87 Handicap: 17.3)
