We played the course on the 11th of February and I was disappointed as the 1st,2nd and 7th holes were off but as we were told that 2 holes were off before we went but as we didn't mind.
However when we tee'd off on the third we weren't disappointed and the course was in great nick especially the greens that were very fast for this time of the year, the 7 th hole looked a great par 3 over a ravine but as it was off we could only walk on by, the real stroke index 1 should be the 16th a brute of a hole a 411 harder into I expect a prevailing wind most of the time ( luckily for us it was a calm day) but we still ended up with 5's. Overall a cracking day and the food is great too especially the cheeseburger and chips that could feed a family of four haha.
Looking forward to visiting the course in sunnier climes( hopefully the greens will be running a bit slower). We were off 7 and 12 and we had 30 points and 28points respectfully for the 15 holes we played.

Visited the course 7th sept 2014. Course in excellent condition. A friendly welcome from members. Visitors should research the course prior to playing as there is no course guide and hole illustration on the tee box can be ambiguous. \Apart from that, a very well designed course, the two fir trees showing 150yds to the green on every hole are a Great idea!!!!!\Watch out for the 16th, hit a big drive and didnt expect the green to be over a gorse filled ravine, again brilliantly designed.\The dogleg 18th is the tightest Ive ever played. \I fully recommend a visit here!

The course was in excellent condition but lacked signs to tell you which way to go to the next tee
I was a guest on the said day and ended up going the wrong way down the course
Bigger notices would be anvantages

I played this golf club with a golfing society. We were effectively charged £25 per person for the golf (on a week day). I was disappointed with this price, considering that there had been work done recently on the greens and they were covered in sand and bobbly. Indeed, there was more sand on the greens than some of the bunkers! Plenty of divots left unrepaired. The plus point about the course is the scenery - beautiful in places, on the banks of the River Wear. Also, the bridges over some ravines are very well made. A major downside is the amount of blind shots, particularly the last hole. The 16th hole - bit of a farce because it is not clear which green you are shooting for. I would say there are about six good holes on the course. An average course redeemed by the scenery. There are courses in the area in as good condition, at a better price (such as Washington, Hartlepool and Seaton Carew). Bar and catering staff were friendly, downstairs staff not so (bit defensive and smug). Not worth any more than £15 per round. If you have to play it, take the opportunity in an open competition, not rip off prices.
