A hidden gem of a course where accuracy is far more important than distance. Staff

The club had just played host to the Ladies English championships and was immaculate. Despite the constant drizzle/ rain the greens were fast and like a quality carpet. Each fairway is tree-lined so accuracy is very important as I quickly found out - lots of chipping sideways. However, there was no thick rough under the trees so the ball cold quickly be found - lots of other clubs should note this if they wish to improve the speed of play. A very enjoyable round.

Probably too wet to play!
The clue was in the home page. Course Open, Carry Only. The front 9 was very wet and not overly inspiring. The back 9 was a real joy to play though. This was my first time there and I'm sure that on a dry day the course would play much better. That said, despite the excess of water the greens were in excellent condition. The experience has not put me off going back in the warmer drier weather.
