Very very slow

Lovely course in great condition. But so slow. 20 min delay to our start. Walked off the course on the 15th hole after nearly 6 hours. Front nine took 3.30hr. Packed in and at least 3 groups on every tee box, they take your money and dont care what happens after that. Never again.

Tooting their own horn

The good: well designed, beautiful course with well maintained fairways.

The bad: atrocious rate of play (longest round I’ve ever played, 5+ hours one ball, overtaking 4 groups), rude and pretentious starter staff and greens which had just been punched and sanded (putting was all but impossible) with no notice from staff.

This course is highly overrated but the green fee doesn’t hurt enough to complain, I just won’t be returning. You can find much better value across Essex and London.

Great course no clubhouse

Course in very good condition but due to automated system over-booking twenty minute late in starting our societies rounds. No clubhouse so facilities poor - only one toilet available

Short course, nice view

It's a reasonable course, but it is never at the top of my 'must return' list. It's fairly short and not that memorable. Whether that is due to the lack of clubhouse or that nobody seems to be able too repair pitchmarks or replace divots... That said 9th is a really nice hole, plus greens are reasonable and bunkers well maintained. There are nicer courses, but £30 makes this worth a visit. Not sure I would pay much more.

Tough and hilly parkland course in reasonably good condition for a pay and play track.
Damp in the rough in wet conditions so need to keep the ball in play.

Decent conditions, but..
rough kept too long, losing balls barely a few feet off the fairway; greens cut against natural breaks made it incredibly difficult to putt (these greens are super fast already).

Shockingly slow.

Played this morning, Sunday at 9:10, 4 balls in front and behind as expected on a glorious Sunday morning. Course was in pretty good condition, although it bugs the life out of me the amount it costs to play most places these days and they refuse to fill the bunkers with sand.
The speed of play was my biggest angst tho, 5:10 to get round as a 3 ball. Waiting on every shot from about the 4th hole onwards. We counted 8 groups across 3 holes at one stage and absolutely nothing was done by anyone on the course to speed things along.
Such a shame because I do really like the golf course, but it seems like once you’ve paid your green fee, that’s it. No care given to how play is actually going out on the course. I’d expect better.

Short course with great fairways and fast greens

Where most courses are experiencing very dry fairways, Toothill has green fairways and nice fast greens. It is a good layout, with some easy holes and some challenging ones. The feature hole 12th is a great par 3 and one I would love to make a hole in one on ??????A 2 ball completed our round in under 3 hours, which is great.

Good quality course. Tee boxes and greens were well cared for. The only issue was that it is rather short. It is rated so highly but on some holes, you?d need to play off the white tees for it to be a proper hole.

Good track

Toothill is a great little county course, with challenging holes and easy holes. The par-3?s are really good, especially those that have water on them. The greens are really good, fast, but need a little bit of water to make them more receptive. It is a great value for money course from Monday to Thursday (?25), but no Twilight rounds which is disappointing. Friday Saturday and Sunday I think the course is too expensive compared to local courses in the area such as Burstead.

Beautiful and a challenging course! One of the best courses our society has played on. Would play it all the time however I doubt if any of us will come again. We had a society day booked months in advance, agreed price, number of tees with a very large attendance then couple of weeks before are told the price has increased. This is after all our members have paid up their fees which left us in with a massive shortfall. The staff went back on what was agreed. In our view their behaviour was nothing short of a disgrace. As organisers of the society it left us in a difficult position to either stuck with the booking or seek alternate venues at a such short notice for so many people. Considering once our members knew what course was booked they must have played well over 50 rounds before the society day. With all that traffic coming their way the staff still wouldn\'t honour what was agreed. It felt like they didn\'t really want us there in the first place. As a golf society it was one of our worst day and we\'ll certainly not be going back. However Toot Hill Golf course itself is a little gem.

Wow perfect greens!! After quite a lot of heavy rainfall the rough was quite wet as expected but the fairways were good and greens superb, great roll with good pace (played worse in the summer at some places!) I've played this course a few times the only thing that lets it down is the not so welcome chap in the pro shop. Grumpy to say the least. Example:- a couple of mates and myself turned up at 7:45 with a tee of 8:04. The place was deserted but he made us wait until exactly 8:04!! Seriously what is the point!
