Not the first time we played played the course, but a number of the greens were suffering and a fair few of the bunkers were in the progress of being grassed over. Will return, but will leave it for a while.

This course seems to be very tired and in disrepair, almost as hope has been lost. Potentially it could be amazing, there are some lovely holes especially around the turn.

I found the bunkers to be lacking in sand, almost like concrete in places, and the greens were woeful, especially the pitch marks that have been left. I would guess that the players show about as much respect to the course as the staff do.

The sad thing as I have already said is the potential the Course has. It could be amazing. I have played here about 15 times in the last year in the hope that it could be improved on, but I honestly don't see that ever happening. It is very cheap, unfortunately, in this case, you get what you pay for.

I have never shot more than an 87 here of off a 17

This should be a stunning course, but it is in clear need of some TLC. A large number of bunkers are GUR, and the others have a very thin layer of sand. Greens were in poor condition. Only saw one member of staff the whole time I was there, the lady in the pro shop, who was very friendly and welcoming. The clubhouse was closed (6.30p.m.) so no after round refreshment. Clearly a golf club which is in rapid decline. Pity, it could be so good.

So sad to see what was such a great course nose dive in a short space of time. Perhaps better management and direction is needed to get this course back up to scratch, on a more positive note, the staff were all very helpful and friendly and the pro is extremely knowledgable and an asset.

What a crying shame that a course having so much potential is so poorly run and under-invested.

The course itself really ought to be one of the better ones in the area, but its maintenance lets it down badly. I have played here a lot, at all times of the day, due to having a membership in the past and having friends who still are, but on an early round you will be greeted by un-swept greens, bunkers full of leaves and puddles days after the last rainfall. For such a well draining course that really shouldn't be the case.

The greens are in the main in a lot worse condition than your average pitch & putt course too !

As mentioned, it is a great shame as with a bit of TLC and investment the Ridge would be a great course.

The Ridge does have an excellent clubhouse, good range of lunches and choice of drinks. However, play a late afternoon round and you'll be unlikely to get a beer or any food as the clubhouse shuts way too early. If you're playing with a society it's not uncommon to have them wait outside the clubhouse as the last groups come in, gloating they got a beer before the bar closed

I'll give it one last try in early 2015 but if none of the courses failings have been improved then its off the radar for the future

I played here today as my club was hosting a competition and was shut all day. I\'ve played here a handful of times since the Club first opened, but I won\'t be heading back any time soon. I have to agree wholeheartedly with Phil R who reviewed the club/course below. I quite like the layout and design of the course, but it is let down by the seriously poor quality of the greens. They are without doubt some of the worst I have putted on in 40 years of golfing. Looking back through previous reviews, a number of reviewers have picked up on this point previously. I can forgive most things and don\'t expect perfection, but even for the time of year, the greens were truly shocking. Green fees are relatively cheap and if this is important to you then fair enough. Otherwise, do yourselves a favour and head elsewhere.

I decided to give this course another try as the green fee had been reduced for October. I like the course. It's a good layout with varying holes, not your up and down slog. It's pretty and, on a good day, has good views from some holes. It's also a decent walk, not too much slope, but enough to get your heart beating a little quicker. The trees which line many of the holes provide enough definition without being too much of an interference. It could be so, so much better though.
I'm looking for membership and want to choose my course carefully. So, could I play here every week? In short, no. I understand the club have some very good membership deals at the moment, but it wouldn't tempt me to part with my hard earned.not yet, anyway.
The main reason that I wouldn't consider The Ridge for membership is the condition of the course. The greens are still scabby, the fairways seem unmown on many holes, some of the tees are extremely uneven and many fairway bunkers have many weeds growing in them! I can forgive the soggy nature of parts of the course, considering the weather and time of year. Once again though, at 11am as I progressed my round, many tee boxes remained unmarked, the markers having been moved by green staff when mowing the tees but not replaced.
I think it's just attention to detail. It's fine attracting the casual golfer with bargain green fees but unless the condition of the course improves, unless the staff take greater pride in their club (the assistant in the Pro shop was paying far too much attention to her phone when I paid), I'm afraid I'll be looking elsewhere. And that's a shame, because I think this could be a fantastic place to play golf.
I'll probably return because of the value, but not for a while.

The course was in a fair state besides the greens. The greens were in poor condition. Would recommend though for value and for higher handicaps.

Can't complain when only paying £12.50 for 18 holes of golf. Greens not in the greatest condition and most bunkers lacking enough sand.

Extremely wet, quite a short course and water logged. Rough was very tough given how wet it was. Greens weren't too bad but some debris and didn't run as well as other courses with better drainage. I would only come back in the summer

Very well designed, a real sensible thinking course with a lot to offer. Very nicely kept. Will play here again.

A lovely spot

Improvements to the clubhouse and course are still ongoing, but moving in the right direction.
Tee areas could still be improved (a lot of uneven areas) and the bunkers need some tlc and use of the same sand.
But located in a beautiful part of Kent this is a nice course, although in comparison to other similar clubs can be a bit pricey.
