Swinton park, beware!!!!

Hi there. Played Swinton Park on Sunday 4th August 2019. We have played this course about 10-12 times over the years and always found it a very good venue, both in golfing terms and catering. Firstly can I say the welcome was good from the caterer and the club pro but that's when it all went wrong. The course was the worst I had seen it with very little care seemingly paid to it. The fairways were long and no definition between the rough and fairway, the greens were two paced with some being quick and true and a few being slow and un-even.The bunkers were a disgrace and looked like they hadn't been raked for weeks. Then to top it all off when we returned to our vehicles we found someone had broken into one of our vans and stolen money, trainees and cash. All in all a very poor experience to what was once a looked forward to event. We will not be booking this course again, I am sorry to say.

Boring layout, appalling condition, greens unbelievably slow\Clubhouse is like a run down nursing home, beer expensive and the food was about as good as the course, utter rubbish

Can't fault the welcome from the pro shop and members but the greens were shocking. So many divot marks it really spoilt the game. Myself and my playing partner were repairing several each on every green. For a private course it really isn't up to scratch. We played on a 2 for 1 voucher. If I was asked to pay full price (£30) I would not be happy. It's a shame because the layout is good, quite long and challenging but fair

(Round played: Jun 2014 - Score: 103 Handicap: 21.6)

Very windy yesterday at the Balfour Cup. Course was in fair condition with the greens unfortunately not being up to scratch for such a prestigious amateur event in my opinion. The course needs a lots of attention on the trees, some uplifting is required in places and maybe thining out too as the trees feel very dense in areas only a couple of meters from the fairway. if you miss the fairway you will drop a shot. The internal OB on 9 needs marking I feel too. And to finish on a good note - the Proshop and Clubhouse are very good.

Layout of the course is great. Just the greens are shocking. Lush and very slow, looks like they love feeding them but they weren't spongey. Overall the design of the course alone makes it well worth a visit.

Good challenge

Be prepared to hit long and straight, or be in for a long round......challenging mix of holes, lots of trees and some very long par 4s.
