Lovely course

We were going to play at another, reasonably close, golf course to Stoneleigh however they wanted ?66 per person for the round. I am glad that we chose Stoneleigh as it was far better, the course was in a fantastic condition and the hospitality was great. I have played there before but thought it really presented well today.

Great Course lovely all round honest

I play golf for the exercise, the views, the social and to push myself like most of us. I think Stoneleigh offers you this and more. It has suffered a bit from the recent dry spell but they are coping well and dealing with the dry fairways like everyone else. Honestly, the difference between the holes is brilliant they are so varied. Mature trees, hilly approaches, ditches to get over, blind holes with marker posts and an amazing down hill par 3 where a buggy is provided to get you down to the green. Phew I love this course and highly recommended that you play it. Get a course guide and go and hit some balls or get your society there to play it. Friendly helpful golf staff a lovely bar and a solid pro to advise on golf matters.

well run and friendly course

an interesting course that crosses the Avon four times. Challenging and arduous line up of three consecutive par 5s on the first 9 but a gentle relief on the back nine with a variety of challenging holes. Fabulous kitchen providing take away bacon baps after nine holes!

A wonderful adventure through woodland and rivers

Starts with the most amazing trees to negotiate and finishes with a river right across your pathway to the 18th!

A gem of a course in rural Warwickshire, south of Coventry

Away working so looked for a course nearby and found Stoneleigh Deer Park GC. I wasn't disappointed as this is a great course that offers something to all standards of golfer. From the moment I walked into the proshop, Adam made me feel at home as a visitor/member to bumping into the local golfers, Stoneleigh is one of the friendliest courses I've had the pleasure of playing. The course itself looks a little lopsided with a par 38 front 9 and par 33 back 9. This though doesn't detract from the course. The first 2 hikes on the front 9 are a fairly gentle start, but are a pretty stern test. Then you enter a run of 4 par 5's in 5 holes that will test your long game. Tucked in the middle of these holes is a fantastic, stroke index 2, par 3, that has 5/6 bunkers surrounding a green the size of a peanut with enough slopes and breaks to seriously test your putting skills. The 7th hole has a line if trees staggered diagonally across the fairway that makes you think where to position your ball. This then forces you into a decision to go for the green or Kay up, due to the River Avon fronting the green. The 8th may not look long on the card, but with OIB all down the left of the fairway, the River Avon all down the right a positional teeshot is required, but that means a longer iron or hybrid into a tiny green. The back 9 starts with a gentle par 4 that again crosses the River Avon, the course then gives you an opportunity to get some shots back with a couple of par 3's and a short par 4, albeit a blind teeshot. The 14th is a gentle dogleg par 5, with the widest fairway on the course, followed by a great par 3, 15th. An elevated tee looking downhill to a a large green. Very picturesque. The 16th is deservedly stroke index 1. A long par 4 that goes uphill, downhill and uphill again to another tiny green. The 17th is very long par 3 and the 18th is a good finishing hole that again crosses the River Avon on the approach to the green. Stoneleigh's greatest defence is that a lot of greens are very small indeed with run off areas that make holding the ball on them difficult. A lot of shots will test you you with the ball either above or below your feet, but to me that made me think a lot more about shot selection and I tried different shots to see how I faired. They didn't all come off, but I was fairly pleased with most. I'd you are in the area, give Stoneleigh a visit, ?20 for a twilight round is very good value. I'd recommend a visit.
