Second visit, first was last March when the course was ridiculously wet, boggy & essentially unplayable, which I hadn't expected from a course that was ranked so highly by a lot of people.
In much better condition this time, probably a consequence of being closed to the public a lot in the preceeding weeks for tournaments. Would like to go back an play again but not at the prices they're asking.

This course has gone down hill in the last few years as they put more attention on the hotel and spa. Is a good layout with a nice variety but golf clearly comes 3rd in the pecking order so the general condition of both courses is not what it used to be.

a nice course in the middle of the countryside. Internet connection for my golf app was bad. enjoyed the course. good mid week rate

Good course better of the two courses at Stoke by Nayland. bit a tardy in places could do with some TLC. not as good as we had expected it to be. Hotel very nice, staff were very friendly. Although 2nd evening meal service was very slow and poor.

Very nice layout with a mixture of short and long holes and some good water hazards. In particular, I thought the 10th was a superb par back and forth over a large reservoir. Was a shame then the course was in pretty poor condition in every way the day I played it: tees with lots of divots and quite uneven, bunkers not enough sand and greens very bobble and too firm to hold the ball. Hopefully this is a one off due to dry weather/lack of staff available but disappointing nevertheless.

Gainsborough Course - Really nice, hilly course. Tees, fairways and greens in good condition. It had been raining and most of the bunkers were full of water! Some very tricky holes and watch out for the rough, it's deep and swallows up your golf balls, never to be seen again!
