An o.k. Course
Played today, April 22nd with my wife. The course has a number of bland holes and some more interesting ones, particularly holes 5 & 6. The greens were in great condition, the fairways o.k. and a lot of the rough is like a farmers field. The whole course is played on a plateau on the top of a hill so is either windy or very windy. We played Cirencester the previous day which was much more interesting. Would we include Stinchcombe on a return trip to the area - probably not.Reviewer Rating

Nice open course , nit too many hazards so you can let your swing go for more distance , tees arent marked too clear so may struggle to find the next one unless your following a groupReviewer Rating

Shots from fairways generally poor and didn't sink a putt all day.
Was windy and course soft so no roll and greens were poor and could not be trusted.

Pretty much the same as my last review in May 2016. I will write about what is slightly different but it is still a top quality course with spectacular views.
The rough has now been cut and the balls are easier to find (which is ace but does take away some of the challenge away). I'm prone to hitting wayward shots from the tee and I normally get punished, but didn't today because I didn't have as many penalty shots.
The greens are rock hard and stopping the ball was problem, especially as with most of the course consists of long to medium par 4 holes, you want a club which will hit 150ish yards from a great height. However the greens are in great condition and putting on them is a delight.
A couple of the bunkers were slightly gravely where as some had very soft sand, so if you're capable of judging it you will be great.
I got the round for £15 which is certainly good value after 4pm but the web site is wanting to charge £17.50 which I would be less willing to pay for a round after 4pm. Keep an eye out for good deals as another local course does cheaper rounds for the same quality of course.

Stinchcombe Hill is a lovely course I reviewed it last in December 2015 at pretty much what I said then still stands. This course has near perfect greens even on par3s and views to die for and generous fairways (yet I still failed to find them half the time).
This course has a few tricky bunkers but the general topography is actually pretty flat. The main challenge comes from the length of the par4s, which are pretty long. I think most people will be hitting into the green using a mid iron rather than a wedge. If you duff your tee shot you’re going to struggle to be on the green in 2 shots unless you’re dynamite with a 3 wood.. For some reason I personally struggle on the par3s on this course which tend to have plenty of bunkers guarding the green.
If you live locally or visiting this is well worth a knock.
