What an experience
I recently got lucky enough in the Ballot and got the most perfect experience of the Old Course. The first tee will definitely grab your attention with the nerves but after that its a course to attack and enjoy!Off the tee, it is very wide open and if you do have a caddy (recommended as I did not have one) it will definitely gain you at least 4 shots! The approaches are full of imagination and there are definitely multiple ways to create lots of chances.
Having said that, make sure your putter is hot! the greens are huge and very undulating in areas which is the biggest test on this course. Make sure you shoot at the right flag on the 7 double greens and fire in those birdies!
Walking down 17 & 18 is surreal! fans lining the course and watching you is something amazing and tops off an incredible experience at the home of golf.
We were lucky in just having a 10mph breeze but it is definitely a course to attack. I managed 6 birdies and could of easily been 9-11 if I'd made some more 20ft'ers.
Overall a day I'll never forget, but I definitely recommend a caddy if you want to gain shots 4+ shots.
