Course is neglected and the rough is overgrown so much so it’s impossible to find a ball and slows play. It’s a municipal. Not a pro course.

It's a nice course but if you're not a fairly big hitter ,as I'm not , it's difficult to play ,well over 6,200 yards

Course in very good condition apart from tees which are generally in VERY poor condition. A shame it is let down in an area which would appear to be reletively easy to get right. ie move the tees on a daily basis .

Very poorly looked after
Has the potential to be a great links course but for so long now has been neglected by Sefton Borough Council. Poor greens and rough that's quite simply neglected and out of control. Urgently needs a buyer so the course can become what it should be.Reviewer Rating

Straight hitters benefit
Stay straight and hit the fairways, you'll struggle to hit from the rough.A great course with forgiving fairways and straight hitters. Greens in good order but some damage on a couple that appears to be under repair. Could do with a decent rolling as bobbles tend to throw the ball out of line or slow them down. Great staff and spoke to several groups around the course having enjoyable times. Condition of course was dry and if you hit the fairway the ball bounded down them an extra 30+ yards.
Will be back during the summer to see if I have improved and the Greens have recovered.
Keep up the good work around the course and please roll the greens

Very w8ndy day but for November course was in very reasonable condition . The stormy winds made the course difficult but interesting

Value for money round
Played Southport in November after other public courses in the area fell foul of the rainy weather. Due to its sandy soil base it drains better than most, but gets sticky underfoot as its not astroturf. Some long challenging holes to start with, with natural hazards having to be catered for with a ditch running across second and third holes, waiting to gobble-up the errant ball. Course fairways are wide and fair fo the high handicapper and greens were in excellent condition. Each hole has enough variation in it to keep the feeble minded engaged in the battle for the whole 18 holes.Reviewer Rating

Nice but tough municipal golf course
A nice course that keeps you thinking, a lot of well placed ditches keeps you guessing. Also combines with some reachable par 4?s opening up eagle opportunities. The signature 13th is very picturesque, best enjoyed from the White tees.Reviewer Rating
