Very poorly looked after

Has the potential to be a great links course but for so long now has been neglected by Sefton Borough Council. Poor greens and rough that's quite simply neglected and out of control. Urgently needs a buyer so the course can become what it should be.

in very very poor condition

I used to play here regularly til 3 years ago, and returned yesterday. Greens are the worst I have ever played on, bald and burnt and cracked areas, lots and lots of divots and holes, basically unplayable.
Struggled to find ball on uncut fairways, with all the weeds etc. Rough is impossible to play out of. Avoid playing here until it gets sorted.

Shocking how they are letting this course go. No wonder it empty because they don’t look after it. Greens are shocking and the rough is ridiculous. It’s a municipal, cut the rough and feed and water the greens. Cheaper at Duxbury and a much better course

Dont bother

Course marshal has no respect for golfers. Driving his cart past as your taking your shot even after being told and asked to be quiet then drives in front of a player teeing off. No tee markers on the second hole for either yellows or whites. The rough is so thick and high you have no chance of finding your ball even with four looking slowing play.

Played here recently. Really disappointed in the every aspect of the course. Water features have been added all around the course. Visually it's enhancing but the amount of wildlife this attracts and the amount of excrement on the greens from the ducks/geese/swans/whatever makes some of them utterly disgusting. Never mind the putting aspect. Greens inconsistent but generally very slow and nothing like they once were 20 years ago. Fairways so so though there seems to be no first cut of rough at the edge of fairways. Some are clearly defined and others are like playing in a field. Tees are shocking. Players don't heed the message in the scorecard about slow play. Total shame as this once was a really good municipal. Think the Pros shop is a good indication as to what you should expect from the course. Course is as previously described. Front nine layout out is interesting and varied. Back nine is a bit monotonous with 4 longish par4s. I don't them as making a 4 on 12 or 17 is a great feeling.

Potential is here to have a lovely Muni, but in the hands of Sefton it's doomed.

Greens were very slow. There is no first cut of rough, just rough. They are letting the course go to pot again. Not worth the money, much better value and nicer course at Duxbury.
