Inner City Golf..
..well, not quite inner city, but less than two miles from Oxford City Centre.A lovely, well set out club, with some very interesting and challenging holes. The 18th green lies just in front of the clubhouse, and is guarded on all sides by a generous water hazard - must be a fertile hunting ground for pond-ball divers.
Been here several times, always enjoyed the golf, and not least the views over Oxford's dreaming spires.
Clubhouse is large, and not especially welcoming, but the bacon butties aren't too shabby, and very welcome at the halfway point.
Not sure if the pro shop people have changed recently, but were not terribly friendly last time I visited.

FORE!!!!
Starting with the negatives because you can't please all of the people all of the time. Some of the fairways were patchy in places. Some of the bunkers needed a tad more sand. Over 18 holes I only found one ball washer. The reason for this I was told is that there is a public right of way across the course and the kids or maybe some adults vandalise the ball washers. On the positive side you would be hard pushed to find a course where course conditions are perfect unless you are prepared to pay very high green fees for the privilege of playing there. The Oxford Golf Club offers near perfect conditions at very reasonable rates. It is a challenging course and is said to have one of the hardest part three's in England. Overall, it is a great course with a warm and friendly clubhouse. FORE!!!Reviewer Rating

Oxford Golf Club - Play it if you can
Oxford Golf Club, is tucked away down the back streets in the heart of Oxford and approaching it, you wouldn't think there was a course there as its in the middle of a built up urban area. First visit to the course so not sure what to expect. The first 4 holes all run away from the clubhouse, 3 x par 4's and par 3, with the 3rd at stroke index 1, not a long hole at 376 yards of the yellow tees, but with plenty of trouble and a tough hole. A couple of testing par 4's and an interesting par 3, with a bush sitting in the middle of your eyeline bring you towards the 9th a good par 5. The 10th is another par 5, before a tricky downhill 11th par 4. The 12th is a long par 3 that will need your best shot to hold the green. The 13th is another good hole, a dogleg right that needs a good drive to reach the fairway over a wasteland area. The closing holes give you a chance to make up some shots, with the 17th a great short par 3 over another wasteland area, before a lovely finishing hole.A shortish par 5, but with plenty of trouble all around the green, with water on 3 sides. Oxford GC is not a long course at 5906 of the yellows, but what it lacks in distance it makes up for with some of the trickiest greens I have played, with lots of slopes, breaks and subtle borrows. The clubhouse is a little dated, but has everything you need with decent food and drinks. The pro-shop is small, but again has what you'd expect. All the staff are helpful and friendly and all in all, if you asked me would I recommend you to play the course, the answer would be a definite yes. Its well worth a visit.(Round played: Mar 2019 - Score: 90 Handicap: 18.3)

Poor Fairways - bit of a disappointment for £25!
It is a shame that the fairways at this course were in such shocking condition - effectively playing off dead grass and having to lift and place on the nearest bit of green where possible. The greens however are something else - they are in beautiful condition and some of the fastest and truest I have played in a long while. The tees are also in the main well kept and covered with good grass. They just need to get the bits in between tee and green sorted!Bunkers are OK but heavy orange sand can be difficult to play a club through.
All in all it's an average to OK course but there are better courses nearby which don't cost £25 a round. The Oxford is not worth that level of green fee!
