Good testing course, lots of money been spent on the drainage, the greens are just recovering from being spiked and sand brushed. Great views of derbyshire whilst playing the course, nice club house, great staff. A real hidden gem I really recommend checking this course out!

Good Course
Excellent Course very forgiving for us higher handicappers. Good Facilities. Course very well looked after.Some challenging holes as well. Plenty of parking.
Only Negative i can say on the day, is that not one ball cleaner on the course had any water in them, luckily my friend was carrying some wet wipes.

On its way back
Just back from playing Shirland (as a 19hc non-member)Fairways and rough were fine, and bunkers "ok"
SO THE GREENS.....after recent comments/posts I didnt know what to expect, but they were "ok" 6/10. Obviously being worked on. For social golf with generous "gimmies" - no problem. If putting for dough, maybe give them a while.
Course was relatively quiet and maybe "green issue" is being reflected, but for ?16 it is still a good deal in my opinion.
New clubhouse being built so limited indoor areas. Marquees set up for "the 19th"

Course is in very good condition, greens very good, club house excellent. We had a round of golf and a very good meal for £14.

Really enjoyed playing this course for the first time and will be going back sometime soon for sure. Course was in great condition and even with the greens being recently spiked they still played well.

Course kept in good condition although the greens could have been better though to be fair they had recently been hollow tined and were a little bumpy as a result of this.

A lot of work on course been done, the greens not running true as just been hollowed and sanded, new drainage ditched dug, looks good for upcoming season. will visit again. as plenty of potential, when these works bare the fruits of there labours.

First impresions upon driving down what could be described as a cart track to get to the club disapear when you pull into the carpark and see the first tee laid out to your right .
the course as a whole is very open and forgiving but also testy as well but is suspect to being heavy going in damp / wet weather .
pro shop and staff are very helpful as are the local menbers
I have now played this course twice and throughly enjoyed myself both times and will be returning for a third visit at some point
