Great visit, iffy weather
Course was great and a challenge in the conditions as it was very windy and chucking it down in patches. However there were no bad holes on the Micklem course, varying holes with some tight fairways and sma green and other holes with much larger undulating greens. Despite the weather, really enjoyed the course and the test it provided. Finally the main reason for the review, the pro and his assistant (Martyn and Andy I believe) absolutely first class, best welcome from a pro I think I've ever had, great customer service. Honest, open and friendly, it does make a difference. Especially as we were at Slayley the day before and the customer service there was shocking. Great work Martyn and Andy!

Used to be great, now superb..
Just back from trip to NE playing Goswick, Bamburgh, & S Carew. Used to play here a bit when I worked in the area & it was always a great course, however with the recent changes it's now stunning. Couple of members of the group said they rated it up there with the likes of Silloth. Great clubhouse / food, and great hospitality from the pro who accommodated us for another 9 holes as we delayed our journey back down south as we enjoyed it so much! Definitely recommended.Reviewer Rating

Enjoyable
Played the Micklem layout on a Sunday afternoon in early October. The positive experience began with friendly and helpful contact with the manager to make the booking. The food from the breakfast menu was both generous and very well prepared. The course was an enjoyable challenge requiring thought and planning. Having played four other links courses in Northumberland in the preceding two days the layout was a far more challenging one and thoroughly enjoyable. The slight disappointment was the greens having been hollow tined and dressed not too long beforehand. The various groups of members we met were helpful, friendly and also courteous in waving us through as a two ball and also welcoming and chatty in the clubhouse afterwards. Yes the views to one side are industrial but when much of the time is spent plotting the way around the well designed course it really hasn’t spoilt the experience for us. We’ll definitely be venturing back in the not too distant future.Reviewer Rating

Don’t bother
Probably the ugliest course in England. Set between huge gorse bushes hiding any view of the sea and a dystopian landscape consisting of a nuclear power station, rusting defunct oil rigs and heavy industry. Nasty! The course is very difficult with narrow fairways set in acres of ugly scrub and greens with more waves than the North Sea.Reviewer Rating

Club house dated and we were not made to feel welcome! Only shoes allowed to be worn in clubhouse which is a joke in this day and age!!!

Great Links Course
I can never believe just how firm this course is in the winter, when many others are unplayable, but that's Links golf for you. Worth a visit at any time, one of the North East's best courses.(Round played: Jan 2018 - Score: 90 Handicap: 11.9)

Worth a visit
Wanted to play here for a while. Finally did it. Brabazon layout was a very tough challenge. Hit the ball straight to score well. Have to rate this as a top golf day out. I will remember the warm welcome from the locals and staff here. Food was also superb.Monday visit at £50 for 2 is an absolute bargain. Must do again.
