Appalling course. Poor condition, scruffy paths and poor greens. Awful

the club seem hell bent on destroying the courses character by removing too many trees. the fairways are shocking for this time of year

The course is usually in great condition but the recent wet weather has left its mark unfortunately. There are several very wet areas that will need some time to repair, the greens have been dressed so they are slowly getting back to their good standard. The tees are also work in progress due to the constant bad weather but will hopefully be back off the mats soon.

Brilliant course

Simply just a brilliant course, very testy with lots of tree coverage and a few hazardous ditches and ponds makes the challenge a worthy one. Condition is excellent, well managed and well looked after. Very friendly staff and atmosphere. Good value for money.

I have played this course a few times during the summer, and as each time passed by the course improved. the greens and tees I would give 9/10, fairways 9/10, bunkers 7.5/10 but they are being work on all the time this time next year I am sure they will get a 9/10 pro shop 9/10 very helpful, bar staff and bar faciaties 8/10. I would urge anybody that requires a game of golf in this area of Leicester go and play here.

This course was in top notch condition on my visit this year. A new irrigation system has helped - the tees and greens were fabulous. This is a golf course that requires precision and thought rather than power. Many holes require decision making on the tee which I found interesting. It has a very tough start. The tee shot on the first is an intimidating start to your round. You can score in the middle part of the course and there are some tough holes late in the round. A good golf course!

Was a great course. Alas, a great amount of penny pinching has destroyed the kudos this club once had.Bunkers have been poor for last two years. Tees are not level and very patchy.Greens are good, run true during summer.Too many idiots from local housing estate use it like a park (kids running around stealing balls and adults walking their dogs and also stealing balls (all trespassing!)).What a shame! Staff do not seem to bothered by all this either. Not to sound snobbish, but it now has a municipal feel to it at times.

This course has great greens but throughout the winter the standard of the course drops significantly. Always guaranteed at least 2 winter greens but usually more and tees are often of mats. The fairways are poor as they do not have much grass and there is a lot of moss. At this time the whole course irrigation system is being upgraded and as such there is obvious signs of this work being carried out a sthe new pipes are laid. however, surprisingly for the amount of work being carried out the disruption to the majority of holes is not noticeable.
This course is always tight and if you are not accurate from the tee you can guarantee a big score. Not really for the big hitter than can splay it around a bit.

Not looked after

A great course spoilt by its condition and how it is ran. Fairways have too much traffic on them for the very wet conditions. Greens need work, still on rubbishy mat tees, no catering at the moment, poor management.

First timer

Another Leicestershire club ticked off this year. First off the T boxes and greens are some of the best I've played on this year. Lots of interesting little borrows . My only criticism would be why on earth did the greens staff decide to mow the back 9 days after horrendous weather conditions. It looked like joyriders were on the course.

Lovely course spoilt by condition

A lovely course spoilt by its condition at the moment. Obviously the weather plays its part but noticeable heavy machines driven along very wet fairways and even across some greens is just poor management. The usual fast greens are also visibly slow and the carry only rule does help but there are still far too many trollies allowed with so called restrictions. Disappointed with the last visit.

Nice parkland course in great surroundings

A beautiful parkland course with challenging holes. Very good clubhouse, decent shop, very welcoming staff. Excellent catering and good value for money. Very fast and true greens. Fairways and tees are also in great condition. It is such a pity the bunkers are totally rubbish and not looked after. They need a complete overall and at the very least putting some playable and decent sand in them. Very disappointed with those.

Nice but very damp

A lovely course spoiled only by the recent wet weather and course maintenance. The tees are ok but like most courses they move you onto mats far too easily and that doesn't sit well with course members. The fairways in places are very damp and sad to say still very boggy in places. For all said the greens are superb. The clubhouse has been refurbished and is looking splendid but alas no bar or catering on a Monday, which again is stupid, some business is better than no business. The shop is small but well stocked and the staff are excellent. As a member of the club I am overall pleased to be there but just wish the course held the wet conditions better.

We would highly recommend a visit. The staff and members were very friendly and full of advice. The course was in good condition and is a real challenge. Beautifully laid out track with some some fantastic holes.
Looking forward to playing Scraptoft again.
