WOW. THE COURSE IS AMAZING. WHAT A BACK DROP YOU HAVE ON EVERY HOLE. MOST OF THE HOLES YOU ARE PLAYING BLIND. A REALLY TOUGH COURSE BUT VERY ENJOYABLE AT THE SAME TIME. LINKS GOLF IS VERY DIFFERENT TO YOUR NORMAL GOLF. FAIRWAYS COULD OF DONE WITH SOME WATER. THE SAND IN THE BUNKERS WAS SO SOFT AND FLUFFY. ACTUALLY MADE IT EASIER TO GET OUT OF THEM. IF YOU ARE IN THE AREA THEN YOU MUST VISIT THIS MAD COURSE. YOU WILL BE HIGHLY REWARDED WITH STRAIGHT SHOTS. THE ROUGH IS LONG AND UNFORGIVING. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. GO AND PLAY THIS COURSE AND TEST YOUR GOLFING ABILITY. 26/8/13. Greens had been holitised and played really bad today. A bit early in the year for that. Made putting very difficult but still liked it.

Easily the best course I've ever played. Very tough, amazing greens and a beautiful setting. Challenging but enjoyable. They also have some good offers for members guests, and it can be very good value to join as a country member if you're a regular visitor to north devon.

Wow, awesome golf venue

Two spectacular courses and just a great set up. Everything was class there and although the course probably didn't suit my driving game (especially the East) the challenge was brilliant. The east punished anything offline severely and the greens were challenging, but beautiful. The west was a very different proposition, with a few more holes to get the driver out, but lots of thought needed.
I would say this was possibly the best golf club I've been to, however it was reflected in the price, it was pricey!

Where do I start !!!! The best course I have played in the UK. This is rated as number 12 in the UK and you can see why. The setting is amazing with sand dunes as far as the eyes can see. The back drop of rolling hills and countryside. You stand on the tee boxes and look down the fairways and think WOW The fairways were cut very nicely. The greens were lovely but not to fast. The wind would blow the ball otherwise.
The layout of the course is perfect. Deep bunkers, blind holes, long rough all part of the risk and reward for this course. Definitely need your thinking head on to play this course. Staff were friendly and so were fellow golfers. I went round in a buggy but I think next time I will walk with trolley to fully appreciate the surroundings. If you are ever in North Devon then you must visit this course. The only downside is the cost of the round but I think if you can get over this it`s worth every penny !!!!

Wow..... This really opened my eyes to golfing. I have never seen anything like this !!!!
Very very hard and testing for me and the bunkers were over 6ft deep.
I struggled the whole way round but really really loved the course. A must for any golfer !!!!

East is best

4th time in 4 years for summer golf. I adore this course. The practice facilities are incredible..... with 2 practice putting greens, a 10 bay range range, a chipping and short game area and 2 lots of nets. I could spend hours just in these. The club house is fabulous, the views across the course are amazing and the fod is goodand not over priced. 75p for a mug of coffee. £7.50 for the most expensive enormous club sandwich. Brilliant value.

The course is just class! The wind was blowing 3 clubs on front nine which made it interesting and we all suffered in it, but it did not detract, but sadly it afected our tee shots alot so spentmost of the first 6 holes ball hunting and waving grous through. We did the twilight after 2.30pm (yes 2.30! which is amazing value at £45 for this quality of course.) There is a top review of this course so go read it. In fact forget that..... just book and go. I'd do a day round trip as it is 2 hour 45 from the Midlands each way.

Even bumped into some elderly fellas from Burnham and Berrow who make the 90 minute trip to play, which speaks volumes.

Email [email protected] she is great at sorting it all out for you!

We then played the West course the day after. We all agreed East is best by quite a long way!

Love this course!!

Favourite course in UK.
Third time here in three years. Love every hole.
Love holes like 1, 6, 15, 16, 18 where the fairways runs off at an angle to your tee shot position so you need to decide how much to chop off/how much to carry/how much dare you run off..... A real test!

So many memorable holes. It has to be played if you are a serious golfer. Amazing prices in August £50. We played £50 for twilight (after 2.30 in July) so you don't need to pay full price for really exceptional golf!

They even do a 'country rate' membership (correct spelling).....as do Burnham & Berrow ...... for people +100 mile away knowing you can't get there that often............so for the discerning golfer who doesn't mind a few hours in the car for quality golf .......!

We played both the East and West course. The courses were in excellent condition, the tees and fairways looked good, the greens rolled well. The East is the better layout, but the West is better than many other links courses. The clubhouse is good with nice views over the course and the staff are friendly.

Superb extended clubhouse. Practise facilities close at hand, chipping area particularly good. Courses are similar to each other with the west a bit quirkier and shorter. Few genuinely blind shots on either. Almost every hole well defined, par 3's on both particularly good. Unlikely to get an extreme sidehill lie anywhere. Greens just under 9 on my stimp, great covering the best I have seen on a links. Fairways excellent, rough sensible. Friendly staff.
Minor niggle, the undercover range could be better, cant hit woods there. Really cant think of anything else to complain about.
Whilst not exactly 'hidden' gems, if these were close to an Open venue you'd hear a lot more about them. Ridiculously under rated on here. Either should be in everyones top 50 British links, easily, and that's without ripping your game to pieces. Excellent, fair test of golf.

This course sits alongside it's more famous East course very well. A good selection of holes and terrain that will test your distance control and strategy.

I have played both courses and have to say I rate them as number one and two out of the hundred or more courses I have ever played home and abroad. If you like links golf you will love this place.

Played the West Course in the worst weather possible and in failing light, but somehow managed to enjoy myself! Absolutely classic links course. I'd like to come back and have another go on a nicer day. If it's your first time you need to hit the ball to what you can see, any further and it's in trouble, don't take short cuts until you know they exist. The West Course is a bit tight on line so try not to monster the ball unless you can do it straight.

For visitors, the club is friendly with great facilities. If you take the "£40 for a round including meal" option, make sure they are certain the kitchen will be open when you finish. I had to ask for a small refund even after assurances by the pro shop that food would be available, which was quite embarrassing and left me feeling very hungry in my wet kit! This sort of thing happens now and again and they were very good about the refund, so thanks Saunton Golf Club.

I'd recommend to others.

Best Course In Bournemouth and Devon Area

I've played all the courses in both Devon and Bournemouth Region and the East course is head and shoulders above the rest. It has a real mixture of lengths, angles to come in to pins and also considering the rain we have had this past week, the drainage means there wasn't 1 boggy area. Beautiful landscape, stunning holes, just a gem of a course

Lucky to be invited to play 3 rounds on consecutive days in gorgeous weather with minimal wind. Both courses are full of challenges and were in perfect condition.
