Fantastic golf club. Two different loops of 9. The front is parkland and the back is more links style. Beautiful greens, but very subtle breaks, so hard to read. Lovely staff and extremely friendly welcome and service. Daniel and Chris were brilliant to deal with in arranging the day. Fabulous halfway hut as well.

Great course. Very well looked after Lovely staff in pro shop and bar. Very friendly and welcoming. Unfortunately members very unfriendly. Old school golf club snobbery. Won’t be going back.

I’ve played here several times now, and I won’t be playing here anymore. I have played at the weekend, mid week, early in the day, and later in the day, every time i get stuck behind several groups with several others immediately behind. Too painful

Played this course last year and thought it was great then, but the condition now is outstanding. Fairways, first cut and greens are immaculate. I've played about 30 different courses this year, and this is one of my favourites. Would recommend to all levels of golfer, rewarding and challenging in equal measures.

Considering the weather that we have been experiencing, the track was in very good nick. A couple of temp greens that we weren't advised of but this is a lovely course and bot sets of nines provide a different challenge. I'd advise not taking the driver and going for drive accuracy and you will score well. I'll definitely play here again.

Lovely course and fab greens
The course was in great condition for the Seniors event and the greens were fast true and challenging. Well worth visiting if you have the chance.

Second time round here. Excellent course in good condition though greens could have been a little more receptive in terms of shots in. But otherwise excellent and the 2 nines are a real contrast, the front being parkland whilst the bank is more inland linksy. Makes it very interesting. Warm welcome in the pro-shop too. Will be back to play again in due course.

This course is 2 9 holes. Front is parkland with tricky opening and closing holes - just tight with hazards everywhere. Second 9 is more inland links and open. Course in best condition that I have seen in 20 years. Greens spiked but will be back to normal in 2 weeks.

Played Sand Martins with the Wessex Amateur Golf Tour in June 2014 and what a lovely place. Nice warm welcome from all with nothing too much trouble. 99% of players on the day had not played here before and to a tee, all were complimentary, specially about the greens which were excellent. After a thought provoking 90 degree dog leg left 1st (too long and its very wet!) the 2nd is another very sharp dogleg left, but this has water in front of the green - thought is again required! A few up and down holes, but none a pushover, and thence to the 9th, a lovely hole with a stream and trees not too far out of range off the tee. An always open halfway house (prices very reasonable for a change!) and you will find very quickly that the back 9 are like chalk and cheese against the front. You see also one of the reasons for the course name, one in that much of it was once virtual industrila waste (well sand quarries !) and there are many sand "cliffs", where the other name for the course comes to mind for it is a major breeding ground of the rarer sand martin. Again, no real "weak holes" and two highlights are the 15th "Deception", where as the name suggests, there a gert big depression for a good drive....worry not if over the ledge, it is uite kind down there!, whilst the real hightlight hole I feel of the whole course is the 16th "Sand Martins" - wow what a Par 5 - Sand cliffs either side, red and yellow ditches, a couple of ponds and ominous bunkers abound - cracking hole, and be pleased, very pleased with par. 17 is a nice par 3 with water in front, whilst the 18th is a good par 5.
Overall, I would be surprised if many left here unsatisfied, and I suspect most will go away thinking they have found a real little gem!

The course was in excellent condition considering the weather. Fairways were dry but not a lot of run on them. The greens were firm and true - they seem to have weathered the winter fantastically well.

What an amazing course! Considering the weather we've had, the fairways and greens were immaculate. Ball didn't bobble once on the greens and they ran beautifully. Greens are also very good sizes and contoured with around 30 yards of pin position to play with on them. Definitely two courses in one as everyone says. We started on the 10th but I was a little let down by the time I got round to the 6th-8th which are tighter, flatter and straighter than the rest of the course. It does look as though there is a lot of investment going in though and bunkers are be upgraded throughout. Well worth playing here :-)

Not a long course, but very challenging. Tight fairways, well placed bunkers and several water hazards mean that you need to be straight more than long. Greens are in good condition. Front 9 and back 9 are quite different, good variety in the challenges they provide.
Very friendly club, good food.
Practice facilities are good, although the range is quite exposed.

I played this course for the first time and was very impressed. Good value for money, particularly with a special offer we used. Sand Martins was in good condition and I would single out the back nine holes and the quality of the greens as the highlight. Really enjoyed the friendly welcome as a visitor and the club has all the facilities including a very good halfway house which was open for business at 4pm on a weekday (unlike many other courses I have played). Overall a very good course and for a mid-handicap player a good test.
