Lovely but challenging course in the Wind
The course itself was in great condition. Greens were excellent. The clubhouse is being rebuilt, so only a portakabin for drinks and toilets, no food available (though they did give us a 'snack' bag to take on the course).Reviewer Rating

San Lorenzo has an incredible amount of natural / intrinsic qualities;Beautiful area of AONB. Wonderful course layout from initial design.
The staff are simply incredible hosts. Smiling and value added at all times!
The current course condition needs investment beyond the obvious of a new clubhouse;
Bunker rakes, new sand in bunkers, an overhaul of cart paths, a replacement if fire damaged bridge etc.. An increased investment in green keeper man hours to allow the condition of the course to live up to its potential.

Past Reputation
With the club house burning very limited facilities but still charging same green fee. Greens not the best especially 1 to 9. The staff in tough position but doing the best they can.Reviewer Rating

Neglected
Shame. Great layout. But in poor condition. Was told by a local they are financial troubles, and can’t even afford weed killer (and it shows).Overpriced, as they are charging premium green fees for a sub standard course.
Avoid.

Disappointing Condition
Bucket list course in very poor condition. The greens were very good and that was the only highlight. A number of the yellow tees had no grass and covered in sand! The fairways were poor with sections having apparently suffered from disease and struggling to grow back. The bunkers lacked a consistent sand base with many being just solid. Practice area near the clubhouse again just basically sand to hit off.I wouldn't rush to play this until it's been sorted as there are plenty of better conditioned course in the area.

The course has been very good in the past, it is now unfortunately now not as good, there were no buggies available, despite pre booking in advance,
There were around twenty buggies all broken, and not in use,
The course is also looking very tired, ok its the end of the season, but it hasn't had that much traffic, the last couple of years,

Massive Disappointment
The layout is interesting but for 141 Euro the condition is awful. Greens and bunkers have seen some care but the fairways and tee boxes don't seem to have had any decent investment for a number of years.I played the Quinta and Vale do Lobo courses and on the same trip and there is no comparision. Very disappointed, left feeling my time and money were waisted at San Lorenzo.
It would appear that San Lorenzo was once a great course. Now in need of great investment

Top Algarve course, plenty of water
Excellent course with plenty of challenging holes. Some beautiful coastal holes with spectacular views towards the Atlantic. Not busy at all in mid Feb, so an easy 4 hour 4-ball round. Friendly and helpful staff in clubhouse and on course.Reviewer Rating

brilliant
The green fees are priced to stop you playing here, but if you get to play here the fairways are tight lies, the greens are excellent, the design challenging, with coastal holes providing an extra challenge.Reviewer Rating

As usual a great course the bunkers we a bit scruffy and the fairways need a bit of attention but other than that, a great course(Round played: Nov 2017 - Score: 111 Handicap: 25.2)

we play San Lorenzo every year and the quality of the course is always excellant. Many tough holes especially if the wind is blowing. Look out for 6,7 and 8 all are quality holes and good test for every golfer

The greens were hollow tined. No discount was offered, and therefore was very expensive compared with Quinta South, for example.
