Played this course with high expectations and was left a little empty afterwards! Played with a group of 6 other golfers who between us put nearly £120 into the proshops till, not that this made the pro warm or make us feel welcome! No advice was offered up in advance and we were basically left to ourselves once the money was collected. The course itself is the most difficult that I have encountered in this country. There is a real need for accuracy off the tee as anything away from the fairway will generally be punished! My biggest problem was that even finding the fairway didnt overly help! The ball seemed rarely to be level with my feet, it was constantly above or below and for someone like myself who is still learning the game, found it hard going! Tees and fairways were well kept and maintained although when we called the greens were lacking a little. Im sure the golfers who can control and shape the ball, particularly using the wind will love the challenge that this course offers, I cant wait for the day that I feel confident enough to return and play the game that this course could offer!

Testing course.
Played Saddleworth for the first time and noted comments about sloping fairways. Yes, the challenge is to keep you ball on the fairway on many holes but at least you know what you are up against. Found the course nicely varied with great views.Reviewer Rating

Very friendly with amazing views
Looked after really well by the staff. Course was a bit beat up and had to play off mats through the green, which wasn't great. However weather has been terrible so just pleased to get out.Has really stunning views and would love to return when the weather improves, as we had a great day out.
Would recommend to visitors and shout out to the Pro who was very helpful and welcoming.

A lovely sunny day, not too much wind, which is unusual for this course. Fairways and greens in really good nick, greens quite fast. Rough too short on the third hole to the right of the fairway, but this is quite common.

Course in good condition for time of year. Found it very testing, and wayward shots will be punished with the contours of the course. The par 3 over the water is a fantastic hole, and the views around the course are spectacular. The pro shop is well stocked and we found the pro very friendly and accommodating.

Moorland course
Considering the amount of rain we've had recently, the course was in excellent condition, fairways generally dry. Grass on greens a bit long but totally understandable - greenkeepers were on course mowing as we played.Reviewer Rating

Always great to play
2nd time playing Saddleworth. Friendly welcome in clubhouse & pro shop. Superb breakfast. Course in great condition, greens true. Quite hilly in parts but worth it for stunning views. Some tricky blind holes with sloping fairways to negotiate. Well worth playing for sure(Round played: Sep 2021 - Score: 77 Handicap: 6.5)

Played in the seniors open 11th. Sept. My first visit. Having played over 330 courses I rate this course one of the very best in course layout,condition and playability.The views from some of tees are magnificent, adding to the overall enjoyment! This is a must play course for any golfer.
