A nice course ruined

A nice course that was enjoyed for many years has been ruined by mis management, lack of funding, lack of interest and the bad weather. The front 9 holes in part are virtually unplayable but due to greed and apathy they keep the course open and don't address the issues. Poor maintenance has increased the problems and I for one am happy to be moving to pastures new. A clubhouse with staff that reluctantly stay open for refreshments doesn't advertise a warm welcome anymore, and it never used to be like that. All in all a complete shame. Currently new owners have made an accepted offer on the venue so perhaps watch this space for improvements.

The golf course is fairly bland. Nothing matures here and it feels like you're playing the same hole twice. Whilst everything is well kept, it is a bore playing here. Not overly challenging. The clubhouse is in desperate need of a facelift with it being very dark, however there is nothing to complain about on the food front.

Very disappointing

A very disappointing visit to a course we have enjoyed many times before. With the refurbishment work undergoing it left the course in a very poor and obviously neglected state. The new clubhouse is lovely and worth the money spent on it. The welcome as always was excellent as was the food on offer and value for money is good but they need to spend time on the greens as they were on the poor side to say the least. Shame really because it has potential. Will visit again but not for a long while.

Untidy course, greens bumpy. Clubhouse was closed when we finished our round at 18.00 hours. So no food or drink, had to go to a pub.

Fair test.

The course is now named as WOOLFOX GOLF & COUNTRY CLUB. Plans to close the course and build holiday accommodation has been postponed with the course still operating. Possibility of the 18 hole course remaining post accommodation build?

Young developing course

Rutland County is still a young looking course, but large greens and tempting 'tiger lines' make this an enjoyable outing.

Lovely course needing attention

A lovely course set in a lovely area. Unfortunately spoilt by a lack of care by either management or greenkeeping staff or both. Recent change of pro looks to be improving things but a lot of work is needed to improve the greens that are looking a little sorry for themselves. The teeing area of the tees need to be moved around a little more as do the flag positioning on the greens. Sad to say but the greenkeeping staff are not very visible much, and as with a lot of courses nowadays too much focus has been to put on the "football golf", which again in my own opinion distracts away from the golf course and encourages the "wrong" element to a nice golf course.

The course was in good condition, whilst it had few challenging holes, the majority were straight forward. The greens were slow but this could be down to the winter conditions. Not an overly challenging course but would recommend for higher handicapper as it gives a lot of confidence in your game

Nice tidy course tucked away behind the A1. Greens could be a bit tidier but the fairways are nice and wide plus forgiving so a very good course for beginners.

A little bit wide open and barren for my liking with the wind being a factor on most holes. Some interesting and good holes though with well protected greens and fairway bunkers positioned to catch you out. The rough also made life difficult if you were not straight so overall a decent test. I would play again if only to play it better than I did.

Golfshake Team ReviewVery pleasant course. Nice and flat and easy to get round. no major water hazards so a great course especially if you can avoid the rough which is thick
