Great condition, tight and challenging
This is a tough golf course - you need to be very straight off the tee and solid with your putting to score well. Despite the greens having been hollow tined and scarified a couple of weeks earlier they were still firm and fast. The front nine is downland and the back is more parkland. All par 5s are reachable with two good shots and there are a good few risk-reward holes.(Round played: Sep 2019 - Score: 75 Handicap: 3.6)

1st time visit
Long wait to start, slow on way round, didn't help, but otherwise good conditions. 90 yards away in two on the tenth.(Round played: May 2019 - Score: 99 Handicap: 24.4)

Some of the best greens around
Royal Winchester is a traditional club that gave us a very friendly welcome as visitors. It is laid out on top of a couple of hills and so is very exposed. We had very strong winds when we played making it play very tough when combined with the rock hard fairways. On most holes, there is deep rough, often marked as OB, to the side of each fairway. You do need to find the fairways to score well but they are fairly generous. The condition of the course is amazing. The tees, bunkers and greens are immaculate, the greens being the smoothest and quickest I have played in a long time. The bunkers are all small pot bunkers, revitted with astroturf which makes them penal but very tidy. It almost plays like a links course. Well worth a visit if you can.(Round played: Jul 2018 - Score: 81 Handicap: 4.3)

This is an excellent course with 4 par 5s and 4 par 3s. It is well maintained but the layout is a bit askew in that hole 14 is a par 4 but only 252 yds off yellows, compared to the other par 4s that are well over 400 yds long!

Lovely hilly course, very scenic. Greens are not up there with the best but not too bad. Rest of course is in good condition. Definitely worth playing.

A great little course. When I played the wind was a real leveler and that added to the enjoyment. The course played short when the wind was behind you but needed some mastery of course management when in your face.

Unfortunately it rained all day in December 2013. The course held up well to the weather. Greens recently had maintenance carried out, so they were a little bumpy in places. Winter tees were excellent. The wind made the back nine very long. I'm sure the weather didn't do the course justice and I would very much like to return in the spring or summer. Breakfast and evening meal were excellent as was the service.
