A top class course and a very tough test. Hard to,find any faults at all although the bunkers are extremely severe and probably unfair on many locations. Overnight in the Dormy House is a special treat.

everything I expected, course kept in excellent condition, very difficult bunkers, need to think a lot enjoyed the day,

Great to play one of the iconic courses. Took advantage of a special rate being offered to 4 ball groups during March and totally enjoyed the experience. Look forward to going back some time in the future

whilst playing a high scoring round its not surprising given this is an Open Championship course! For history and links challenge its unrivaled! a great experience

Fantastic day courtesy of Grant Thornton. Day started breezy and damp with light drizzle. This cleared by the turn with sunshine. The wind was strong enough to be challenging but not too much to prove tiresome. Lytham is a delight, one of the best links in the N.W. on the day the greens were less perfect than on previous trips due to hollow tinning but they are not far away. Rest of the course is impeccable. Clubhouse is welcoming and food was superb. All told a fantastic day.

Was a frosty morning so waited 2 and a half hours for it to thaw. once it did the course was in good condition. A hard course for a begginer, want to play it again.

Fantastic Golf course, unparelled in all of england only courses of comaprabkle Standard are Royal liverpool & Royal birkdale.

Superb but not Exceptional
It is a fantastic course and everything about the place oozes quality, but there was just a little spark missing, ITS FLAT !! All of my truly favourite courses have elevation changes, and this is like Hoylake, flat, and it just makes, for me a little disappointing, well worth playing but many better courses out there that don't/won't get the praise they deserve, because maybe they are owned by a controversial figure ( or so the media say ) or they are not on the Open rota, or maybe they are tucked away somewhere, I try and play the top 100 courses, and still to this day I do wonder how they rank them, surely it should just purely about the golf course, and if so this wouldn't be number 13, but still good !!Reviewer Rating

Don't get me wrong, it's a great course. For the money? no. If you can't hit it straight it will destroy you, as most of my society found out. The course is littered with bunkers and higher handicap golfers struggle getting out of them. The wind was in our faces on the way out and it was as tough as it gets. Personally, it's not a patch on Carnoustie.
