Blackheath

The course is in very good condition both fairways and greens. Greens are pretty fast so beware. Needs more sand in the bunkers of which there are a lot. Some long holes but mostly flat and not too much danger. The rough though not long is dangerous. Enjoyable
golf course with plenty of parking and Grade 1 listed clubhouse and golf museum.

Testing little course

I've bee invited to play here twice. The 1st time I left feeling deflated as the fairways were in poor condition and the greens looked tired. In hind sight that maybe because of the deluge of people playing after lockdown.
My 2nd visit I was pleasantly surprised to see the fairways and greens in excellent condition.
The course is littered with bunkers, ditches and punishing rough. Would reccomend some course playing strategy

Expected better for the green fee

Well kept but it it’s a pretty boring piece of land so it gets repetitive. Also the least friendly of the few royal clubs I’ve played.

Wow

Fabulous setting and a fabulous course.
Oozing history in the clubhouse, but not at all stuffy. A friendly welcome and top notch service.
The course is visually spectacular. The fairways are manicured. The greens are slick. (The first green looks like it needs some TCL but after that they are superb.) Just don't go in the long grass, it's ultra punishing.

Nice course with friendly members. Good breakfast and lunch. Apparently approx. 2500 have been removed in the last year.

I played this course yesterday, and I am pleased to say, the review about the course work going on is not accurate at all. Yes a lot of trees have been taken down, but three holes have had all new bunker complexes put in and as a 3 handicapper I can say that it makes a much better test. I've played this course many times over the years and have always had a great experience. The tree work has been really worthwhile as a lot of the trees that were randomly put in place are in the process of going, leaving more established trees that frame the fairways better. It is a bit of a mess in places but I got a reduced rate which more than made up for that, as the fairways were immaculate.

I had heard some excellent reviews about the course so maybe my expectations were too high on arrival. It is a nice parkland course, which is kept in excellent condition with fast and true greens. However, too many holes are not good enough for what is one of the best clubhouses in the south of England. I believe Kyle Phillips is going to carry out some changes to the course, which I am sure will only improve it.

Despite the heady tag of the oldest clubs in the England this is far from an elitist club and is most welcoming to visitors. I have been privileged to play it on an number of occasions as a visitor and found the staff and members very friendly. The greens are of the highest quality and the course in general is in superb condition. The track is mainly flat with mature parkland trees coming into play. Hit it true and you will score well. Off the fairway you can often scramble well most of the time. But some of the holes will punish you severely if you stray off line. A top golf course.

A little gem in London

On my 1st visit to this course I wasn't overly impressed. Having palyed there a few times now it has grown on me. The front 9 is fairly flat and the back 9 has more interest. With hidden greens and a few hills. The course was in great condition with excellent greens. It's a gem of course especially if you live in the local vicinity. The food and drink is reasonably priced with a fair selection of stuff. Can't fault the welcome, everyone is always friendly.
