Course is an excellent and fair test for the thinking golfer. Fair because the greens are generally in excellent condition. The clubs committment to this standard can easily be seen with the work carried out recently to some greens such as holes 3 and 7. It is an excellent test because of the variety of holes and shapes. Certainly wayward tee shots wil lead to a high score here as the fairways end abruptly in mature forest with overhanging branches at the fairway edge often preventing any recovery shot other than a punch back to the fairway.

I scored my best yesterday of +2 for the front nine in twilight play by almost leaving my driver in the bag

Unless you strike it very straight hole one is best approached with a 3 wood in hand. Returns from a well hit drive are limited into the up slope. Driver is needed on hole 2 to catch the downslope at around 200 yes. Otherwise the second, approach, shot on this second hole is as tough as they get. Play this hole as a par 5 and your overal score may benefit.
The third is a 3wood. The 4th is a strange hole in terms of risk reward. It is a try worth trying to hold your tee shot close to the trees on the right as anyhow the ball ends up left of this siping fairway. 5th and especially 6th are opportunities to make something back. The 8th requires a decent drive or 3 wood followed by a second shot to do no more than catch the downslope 100 short ignore the green.
The ladies tees are possibly the toughest I have ever seen on a course relative to the men's and seem admitted though they were added later. The committee couldn't perhaps consider moving them up a fair bit on some of the longer holes. Laughably the ladies is behind the men's tee on one hole, the 12th.
This course records for me and women highlight the issue.

I played here on the 29th September with 3 friends. We had booked up a week earlier using a £29 discount voucher the club were offering on Facebook. The night before I was notified I had won their competition for a free 4 ball with buggies! Ian Griffiths who is the Managing Secretary handled my booking & was very professional throughout, even to the point of introducing himself to me in the pro shop when I checked in to make sure everything was okay.

All 4 of us had breakfast in the clubhouse before playing which was very good.

The opening hole of Ross gives you a taste of what the rest of the course is like. Manicured fairways, spectacular views & slick greens. The holes that stand out for me are 8 & 16 as they share the same teeing area.

The 8th is a downhill dog leg right par 5 which requires a well thought out 2nd shot so you can attack the tight green with your 3rd shot.

The 16th is a short par 4 (296 yards) downhill which can be reached by the big hitters (as one of my playing partners did!) I hit 3 wood, lob wedge & walked off with the same score of par as the big hitter (lol)

If I was a member here I would consider myself very lucky as not only do they have a great course but all of the staff are very welcoming & friendly.

Can't wait to go back.

a top course, played very difficult, accuracy not distance was the key here, greens had some slope on them and were easy to three putt. facilities are pretty good, not the most modern but good none the less.

A beautiful course in a stunning setting, reasonable value as a visitor. A little full on the Friday afternoon we played but the course made the waits on some tees worthwhile.

Brilliant greens...!

This course is currently ranked 119th best in England and I took the opportunity to play in their Open Comp today. Easy to find, the club is just off the M50. A parkland course with tight tree lined fairways, regular changes in elevation and many devilish greens. We played off "the tips", so at 6451+ yards it was not short either! Everything was in lovely condition. Holes 8 & 16 share a spectacular elevated tee. With normal visitor green fees at £40 and less for the Comps or twilight this is a great value venue.

In the trees.

Lots of daffodils in the trees: really beautiful. Good mixture of short and longer holes. Nice to see some really short par 3s; 124 and 125. Course is not a tight as pictures look; which is no bad thing. Foliage wasn't on trees. The third is a good short four; tight; big tree on the right; ground runs right. Would like to play it in drier conditions. Staff very friendly. Good to see alcohol free beer on tap in clubhouse.

Really nice course

Loved the course. I great condition with very quick, tricky greens. You need to be pretty straight off the tees, but to be fair if you stray you can usually find the ball, so fair enough. Good clubhouse with friendly staff, decent beers and well priced food (good portions)

Lovely course played between the trees which frame every hole. Greens were in great condition and nice slopes on them. Really worth a visit and very welcoming.

Good Course

Overall a nice course but some bare patches on fairways and greens have had a lot of drainage work done last year so they are still repairing the putting surface. Expensive if you don't play with a member (£50) and (£20) with a member.
