Doing their best in difficult weather
The fairways were like light rough, but this is understandable as the drainage in this part of mid-Sussex is always tricky. The greens were roped off (from trolleys) and this protected the aprons.
The greens were very true and seasonally slow. I wish they would hand out free pitchmark repair tools as I must have repaired at least two on each hole and, believe me, they were not mine!
Very friendly staff, good food, warm welcome and we were happy to wave through a couple of solo players who had both courteously waited for their opportunity.
Minor gripe- the shoe cleaner air line was broken. Overall a very good visit.

Excellent pay and play in west sussex
First time playing at Rookwood. Excellent greens, despite conditions (April snow flurries first thing!). Only 6100 yards but intelligent layout with short holes protected by water, ditches, dog legs etc. Par threes have long carries over bunkers. Very friendly staff and fellow golfers. Lovely setting with nature reserve and lakes. Will definitely play again. Don't sell to greedy developers for new houses!Reviewer Rating

Rookwood - Pride of Warnham
I enjoyed my round at Rookwood today. I tee'd off very early so had nobody ahead of me. The course is very popular and every slot was filled this morning even 48 hrs ago.The course has a nice mix of holes, 10 Par4, 4 Par3 and 4 Par5.
There is a breakfast bar on the 7th, you can place an order and collect after the 9th, sadly I was too early for this, but there were bacon rolls and bar etc at the finish.
The fairways are nice and wide, there are various dog walkers who seem to know the risk and are fine with a ball in the head.
This is another course that is in danger of being lost due to housing, and it's right next to The Nature Reserve! This can't be allowed to happen.

Nice course - penal rough
A decent course with juicy rough off the first cut which slows the round down and spoils the enjoyment somewhat. Course was in good condition with nice greens. Signposting is a bit hap hazard if you've not played there before and clear, prominent signs pointing the way to the next tee would help. Very slow food service if you want a breakfast and the food is average at best. Some beers not available. Not a lot of care seems to go into this areaReviewer Rating

I was having a blinder of a round when it bucketed down and the 16th is right next to the club house. This was too good and opportunity for the rest of my group who were not having such a good day.

Awful Course
We played Rookwood course recently and were charged £35 to play on a completely unplayable course. The course was boggy mud all the way round and the fairways hadn't been cut for weeks (even though most areas were mud, not grass). They had no interest in enforcing pace of play either. The round was so incredibly slow, we gave up after 16 holes. This isn't helped by the fact that the back 9 has several par 3's and a short par 4 in quick succession, creating heavy congestion. Avoid this course.
Also saw the guy working in the halfway house empty the bit outside with his bare hands and then go back into the hut to continue working with food, without washing his hands or wearing gloves. Don't eat at the halfway house.

It's been a bit wet of late!
Much as there can't be much more rain in the sky to come down!, Rookwood remains open much of the time, greens in great condition albeit they're a bit slow.Reviewer Rating
