Warm welcome in the club shop. Excellent testing course - not long but very enjoyable. Course was in good condition and greens staff were working on the bunkers so not all in play. Greens had recently been top dressed but were still great and true. Will be back in a few weeks to play the course again!

Strange that the only NEGATIVE reviewer felt the need to be anonymous......We found that the welcome was warm and friendly, the course in great condition and although a true test, still very enjoyable with the staff in the bar extremely friendly afterwards. No problems at all on the course ( other than my putting!!!)\We will return!

Played as a visitor on Saturday afternoon (9th July) and course was excellent.Greens were so quick and very true. As I played after 3pm it was only £16. Cant get better value than that for such a good course.

Course in great condition. Greens very good.
Bar staff very friendly. A lot of people turn there noses up at this course, but I have played it on many occasions and think it is a cracking course.

Enjoyed course very much, some short holes but not easy. Would definitely benefit from playing before as several blind holes. Staff very friendly!!!

First time here and really enjoyed it.
The course set up is a bit confusing at first but luckily we printed a map off and took it.
The guy in the clubhouse was very friendly and helpful and overall it was an enjoyable experience and for £9 for a weekend round really made it great value for money.

So many signature holes
Have played all of the more fancied courses in the North East over the last 2-3 years and this one must be in the top 3 or 4. It's refreshing to play a quirky course that's over 100 years old with so many different challenges but which also throws in the odd short forgiving holeReviewer Rating

Played this course a few times in recent months and it's in fantastic condition. Fairways are like carpets and the greens are a proper test of golf; true rolling with subtle borrows. Par 3's are a proper challenge (especially 5th!). Clubhouse is great too - good food and a warm welcome from staff and members who really make you feel at home.

Course was in excellent condition, greens very fast, fairways lush and soft, some testing holes, very enjoyable. Clubhouse was friendly and accommodating. Will definitely return very soon for an open comp.

The greens staff have done a great job after a long and hard winter for such a lot of us. Fairways are well manicured and in fantastic condition. Greens the same giving all players a good and fair test of their game.
Members and staff are friendly and helpful. Great bar and catering facilities with views from the balcony across the valley and The Angel of the North.
Definitely worth a visit.

a delightful quirky course that consists of three seperate sections,but at the same time a thoroughly enjoyable course with many tricky holes.I believe the shop is run by committee members so the welcome at the course is always very pleasant and very helpful. the bar/restaurant is a rarity in that it always seems to have golfing and non golfing customers something is obviously well planned and operate in making this club a thriving place.

2nd time I have played this course this year and have to say it is in excellent condition. Location might not be to everyones taste but go and enjoy the fast greens and manicured fairways. We paid £13 at a weekend. Excellent value for money

Played for the 1st time today, its high on the top of a hill & the conditions were very blustery yet the course played well. Challenging par 3's 200yds yet 300 yd par 4's so a good test.
