Overrated & expensiveThe course could be great but as with most courses the rough is kept to long and to many people loose balls and spend time looking for lost balls when there is no need unless it?s is a pro tournament. The club house bar is very tasty and tired and the food and drink is very poor and massively expensive so most people leave after the round and go to a local pub for a drink instead of staying at the club. The restaurant and spa are very good but as this is a golf review these have little bearing on the marks
Never fails to impressSuperb course, always find this place a challenge. Even though was wet, course played very well. Some great holes.

Very wet after weeks of rain(Round played: Oct 2019 - Score: 110 Handicap: 25.9)
Great venueTwo very good courses in great condition.
Greens were quick and true.
(Round played: Sep 2019 - Score: 103 Handicap: 22.9)
Good ChallengeEnjoyed this course on the 2nd day of a two-day break. Fairways, bunkers and greens all in good condition. Plenty of variety and a good challenge.
Lovely placeInteresting course with nice views, pace was slow due to being behind 3 sets of lady 4 balls in buggies who were incredibly slow
Potential To Be BetterThis is part of the Portal "resort". The clubhouse etc is all a bit tired not like the hotel down the round where the "Championship" course is. With some TLC this could be a great stand alone club and sister course. The course is no different. Just some attention to detail, tidying up of the tees and surroundings would make it a decent parkland course. A couple of lovely holes and great value for money. Pro shop is not the best.

Good value. Fair challengePlayed on Saturday afternoon, in very good weather, which always helps.
Received a good greeting from the pro. He told us to go when we wanted. We let a member teeofftimes before us. That meant we were never pressured. The first hole eased us in. But after that it becomes a test longish holes with slopes and gradient changes but it makes for a good test. Tees, fairways and greens all well presented. A couple of pitch marks needed repairs, but nothing to dramatic. One minor problem, and to be fair a recurring theme that is not much sand in some bunkers. But it won?t stop us from coming back.
ToughPlayed last year in very dry conditions and now when its had 3 weeks of soaking. No run, thick, lush rough where its hard to find your ball. Almost impossible to score as a high handicapper if you're not on the fairway.
(Round played: Jun 2019 - Score: 101 Handicap: 21.3)
(Round played: May 2019 - Score: 100 Handicap: 13.2)
Good courseCourse was in good condition throughout. Some testing holes especially on the back nine, good challenge.
(Round played: May 2019 - Score: 83 Handicap: 8.9)
great golf resortExcellent golf resort with two great courses. The premier course is tighter than the championship course and is more undulating.
Greens on both courses were very good and pretty rapid.
Very picturesque courses with great views of surrounding countryside.
