Not many courses are going to divide opinion like this one. On the plus side, good warm up area, great views of dramatic scenery. Attractive modern clubhouse. Course has some simple short par 4’s but far more longer approaches to steeply plateaued greens. Likely to be very challenging for any golfer in any but the most benign conditions. Greens were fine, fairways struggling after a dry spring,
A lot of blind tee shots aimed over marker posts, a couple of which are going to leave you in trouble if you don’t carry it well over 220. Incredibly tough walk. Very exposed to any wind. Biggest problem on our visit is it’s far too random when the course is firm, if you haven’t played it before. Bit like playing on a skateboard park, luck is always in play on a proper links but running from one side of the fairway to the other, and then into trouble, is going to prove trying for most.
I’d still recommend playing it, but as a visitor really only when it’s green and receptive. Very hard course to rank, but I think on balance about right on here.

Wonderful days golf

Tough and challenging but a wonderful day - golf played on a hillside overlooking the bay. Very dramatic views and holes throughout, most/all golfers will be tested. Highlight of the day was the welcome and hospitality from all working at the club, we appreciated the genuinely warm welcome.

True links golf

Lots of blind tee-shots and very challenging in windy conditions. Thoroughly enjoyable test of your golf game.

One of my favourite courses, greens playing very quick this weekend which made it tough, well looked after by staff. Great club

One of the most enjoyable rounds of golf in a long time. I rocked up at 8.30 for the first non-member tee time in drizzly misty and cold conditions, had a terrible first drive but things got better from there. It's hard to describe as Perranporth isn't like the other N.Cornwall links courses, it's so hilly with multiple blind shots and extreme accuracy needed. Unlike illustrious neighbours up the coast, getting up and down in two around the greens can be a lesson in madness because of the raised greens, steep run offs and thick rough. It's not particularly long but with a sea mist and winds coming at you from all angles it's a keen test. The condition of the fairways and greens is superb, the club has a friendly helpful pro shop and bar, and is excellent value. Will be returning for definite.
